I was reading the SOS about the kitty from Flint Michigan (where I grew up!) I did not find an article about it in the Flint paper, but I did find an obituary where the man's cats are listed ABOVE THE WIFE AND KIDS! Now that guy is a cat lover...and whoever wrote the obit (probably his wife) knew it!

While I'm sad the family lost their Dad/husband/grandpa...how sweet that the kitties got mentioned.

It's part of a trend to make the deceased seem more human. Our local paper frequently runs obituary headlines like "Jane Doe, was big NASCAR fan". This follows the usual format - vitals (name, age, town), background (parents, work/educational experience), hobbies, survivors, and funeral arrangements. This is the 1st time I've seen the pets listed, though.

That is such a touching article! It shows how special he was, that his family remembered to include the cats in the obit.
I was looking for the abuse article too, since my hubby was born in Flint & we go visit Burton every year.

I bet he had other cats in his life and the first place he went after he left this world was The Rainbow Bridge.

Thanks for sharing this good man's story.

Thats so sweet! I was reading thru some obits a week or so ago, and a old man had passed and they mentioned his dog, I thought it was so sweet.

That is sweet. I saw a similliar obit some months ago in a small weekly. It ran "X is survived by his loving cat Boots". Sadly the kitty was the only listed family member. I hope she found a good home.

I hope that's part of a trend. A friend of ours died last year, and her husband, daughter, and dachshund were listed as her survivors. She really would have appreciated that.
