I feel like I'm stalking my cat. She's 65 days pregnant today and I find myself constantly checking up on her because she keeps finding different places in the house to nest/nap/hen. I think she's getting impatient with me because everytime I find her she gets up and moves somewhere else. She's currently behind my bed and I can't get to her. I really don't want her to have her kittens back there.

My question is.... Is she trying to be alone right now? She's a very affectionate and loving cat and I can't imagine her trying to go through labor alone. Should I just leave her alone? Everytime I find her she meows at me or makes that wierd trilling sound in her throat. Does this mean "back off!" ??

I think so. She might be having contractions and want to be in a nice comfortable spot. No distraction or eyes

It sounds to me like she is wanting to be left alone if she is moving every time you find her. I would just put her in the bathroom (like everyone has told me to do LOL) and leave her there. just go check up on her every hour or so and see how she is doing. If you dont want her to have the kittens in the bathroom then put her where ever it is you want her to have them at.

Taz was like that the day she had her babies, she would alternate between wanting me, and running from me. Finally when i left, i kept leaving in the evenings, 3 days in a row, and she had them the thrid day ( 2 weeks ago today)

Can you confine her to one area? That way shes not trying to nest in a not so good spot for the babies.

Hope she has them soon!!

Here nesting box, litter box, food and water are all in the bathroom right now. I put her in there at night just in case she goes into labor. But during the day I've been letting her out. I did put her in there earlier today because she was seeming "uncomfortable and panting" and I thought maybe she'd have them. But 5 mintutes later she was scratching at the door and meowing to be let out. She doesn't want to be bothered but she doesn't want to be shut in the bathroom either. LOL

I guess when she comes out from behind my bed I'll move her into the bathroom for good now. I hope she has them today. The waiting is killing me.......

You're right -- I'm going to move her there as soon as she comes out from behind my bed. She knows I can't reach her there though so I hope she's not there for good. I'm such an emotional sucker when it comes to my cats. When I put her in the bathroom this morning I had planned on leaving her in there permanently but as soon as she started scratching and meowing I felt bad. I need strength to get through this..... lol I'll keep everyone updated today. Thanks for being here.

How do cats appear when they are in labor? Anything I should be looking for? Will she make sounds when she has contractions? Will she appear to be distressed or "in pain"?

I think we are all somewhat "suckers" when it comes to our animals and kids. LOL

Sorry, I am no help at all. I am trying to figure it out too. From what i have read on here and looked up all cats are different it seems. Actually, i know you should watch for blood but i'm not sure about anything else really. Sorry!

I never really knew taz was in labor. i figured she was, because she was acting different. Every now and then she would DEMAND my attention. Then she would try and get me to follow her back to her nest. Then late that night i head screaming, it was a kitten half born, she had allready had 2, and one was half out. Within 5 more minutes she had the forth. I waited for 3 hours with her. no more babies. When i got up that morning there were 7 babies
I guess, just look for abnormal behavior.

OH and she had some discharge i noticed that day too. A few blood droplets and some moisture.

Cats are different some make sounds some just spit them out. Keep reading the boards here and you will notice everyone has noticed cats are unpredictable.

Well, I'm not surprised to hear that it is unpredictable.
She's definately been acting different for a couple days. Today for sure. Do I check her backside for blood or the litter box?

silvermoon -- Who was screaming? The momma cat or the half born kitten? Yikes, that would freak me out!

I've read that she'll do that but I haven't noticed it outside of her usual grooming.

The kitten was, just like they do when my 2 year old tries to pick them up, poor babies hehe.

But ive read that a cat can scream.

Yeah we were in the middle of a scarry movie and i head screaming from the other room. It was a kitten half born. Freaked me out, talk about adrenaline rush.

Tazzie held in her babies for probably a week or so. Because she was in the pound till i fostered her. So the kittens are really big for their age ( according to my cousin who breeds)

Really its a waiting game. But i found that by leaving every night at the same time for a couple of hours ( talk about ice cream and drives lol) she had her babies on the third night, i think when she realized i would leave her alone she felt better. Now shes super loving, she loves it when i " babysit"
every night i take the kittens out, now 2 weeks. and let them "romp" on my bed, they are exploring now, its so cute!

I hope Jada isn't holding hers in. I can clearly see and feel the ones she is carrying on her sides and they already feel like they're quite big. She is currently still behind my bed and now asleep. I'm going to let her rest and then put her in the bathroom like I said, for good. Maybe she'll let them out if we leave her alone for a few days. I'll need to check in on her I guess though which could irritate her. Ugh, I don't know what to do. She's 65 days today. How long should I let her go before calling our vet or becoming concerned?

we dont even know how long taz was pregnant. When i started getting stressed about it. i called my aunt who breeds. She said ifs shes holding them in, she cant forever. So dont worry too much. She cant hold them in forever. If you put her in a nice calm spot, dark and warm, chances are she will have them soon.
