Day 26 here....and guess what? 2 of the kittens went to the litter tray and used it to do a wee and covered it up! I am soooo proud! I didnt have to do anything!

I haven't seen their mum Tinkerbelle litter train them either.....can kittens instinctively know to use a litter tray?

Right..just the weaning to sort out now.

Congrats! Mine are still having some trouble with the covering part. They scratch on the side of the box, on the blankets outside...anything but the litter in the box when they try and cover theirs. And they are about 5 weeks old already.

Actually i have had some success. Turns out that putting out several little plates of food near moms got the kitties to come and investigate and imitate mom. Also i found i could distract mom from eating all the food by bribing her with temptations. Probably not the best way to go...But when i stopped home at lunch momma and the 2 little ones were all waiting by the door to the room for me (well really for the food!)

Oh...also better lucky tempting the little ones if i mixed catmilk into the wet food as and mushing it up good.

Good luck....let me know how it goes!

Problem is if i sit down they would rather be in my lap then eating solids. So i think i've created monsters...i will lift the plate up so they can eat from my lap!
Whoever adopts these two might want to strangle me!!!

Is it gross to ask for a picture of them going potty like big kitties?

I'll get my camera ready! Ha ha! I first noticed that the litter tray had a tiny spot of wetness and thought that was strange as mum cat would make a bigger 'wet spot'. Then later this afternoon, 2 kittens 'commando crawled' to the litter tray, hauled themselves in and did their wee wees. I called my hubby at work as I was so excited (he thinks Im mad but is grateful they are using the tray and not the carpet
)

Weaning wise- we had a bit of a play food fight today. I put little lids out with mushed catmilk/kitten food and the kittens thought they were great toys! The good thing though is when they walked in the lids, they would stop and clean their paws and eat the mush!

Mum cat, Tinkerbelle, made me laugh, when she saw all this craziness going on she looked at me and meowed as if to say "You are as bad as them!". She then called them all into their nest and gave them a super cleaning session each.

I may be biased but i sure think so! I'm just wondering how i would feel if they were all grown up and 12lbs and they still wanted to sit on my lap to eat everyday!!!
