This is my first cat, 1 year old male domestic short hair, lately he yowl and whine frequently and fight with other cats. He even roam alot and last week got cat flu for the first time. He is now recovering from the flu. My vet suggests him to be nueter.

What will happen to his behaviour if he is nueter?

Will he still go out roaming?

Will he frequently fight with other cats?

Will he feel funny?

Thanks in advance.

All of the changes to his behavior will be positive. Once the hormones work out of his system he will quit roaming and won't be nearly as territorial so there won't be nearly as many fights. If he hasn't started spraying in the house he very well may start. He will be far less likely to do this after he is neutered. It is a very simple procedure, he will recover very quickly, and he won't feel funny after.

Will he feel funny?

My question was will he feel himself missing something, changes on his behaviour, does he know he is unable to perform, will other cat laugh at him.

As much as we like to project being human on our cats they aren't human. For both cats and dogs, sex is pure physical instinct driven by hormones. The hormones are gone the drive is simply gone. They don't feel as if they are missing anything. Other cats react differently around them but again this is purely physical. The lack of hormones affect their scent so they don't set off the purely physical drive in other cats to either mate or to fight.

No way, Jupiter had his bits cut off at 5 months and he is a brute still! No one would dare mess with 13lb of pure muscle!

He's the same cat but more friendly and less aggressive.

Cats are not emotionally bound to their parts. They will not know what has happened. The lack of hormones will simply make them uninterested in mating. These hormones naturally ebb at certain times of the year where the drive will be less strong when all the females go out of heat. Without the hormones to drive them they won't be interested but won't know that there is anything different about them.

He will still wander outdoors but he won't go chasing down any female he gets a whiff of. Instead he will stake out his territory and patrol it. He won't be overly aggressive if there is a female in heat which usually causes the major injuries of toms.
