So since last October my wife and I have had a problem with one of our cats peeing on our spare bed. We have three cats and just recently found out that it is our dominant alpha three year old male Liam. The first time we found it, it was a HUGE stain and since then it has been infrequent and much smaller. He still goes in his litter box all the time. I have not found any other stains he seems to only like peeing on the bed, and never in the same spot on the bed. We use Zero Odor which completely removes the smell and the stain each time, but he keeps peeing on the bed. He is a very relaxed laid back cat with a lot of affection to give and he can be hyper at times. We got him with his brother Finn and most of the time they get along but sometimes they fight. We recently got our third cat Luna when she was 4 months old, and Liam and Luna get along well and play every day. I should mention that he started peeing before we got Luna. I haven't seen any blood and it is really infrequent, about once a month or once every two months but it's becoming a pain in the neck! Can anyone help?

is he neutered? that "might" correct the problem. Do you clean the mattress as well as the comforter and sheets? the scent may have soaked into the actual mattress, and even if you can't smell it, I guarantee he can

There could be lots of reasons for him doing this.

Some things that should help...

Sometimes kitties get very finicky about exactly how their litterbox is set up, and where. Sounds like that's the problem here.

Our boy, Hobbes, did the same thing, and it turned out he wanted one litterbox to poop in and one to pee in, he didn't like hooded litterboxes, and he liked it pristinely clean. I found a couple websites that helped me understand exactly what it was that I could try that would help, and it really did. One good thing is the fact that he's now outgrown his pickiness about wanting two and wanting them in such perfect condition, now that he's about two! Hopefully yours will do the same!

Here are a couple websites that should help:

http://www.larimerhumane.org/services/litterboxinfo.cfm

http://www.thepetprofessor.com/secA...es_and_cats.asp

http://www.heartlandhumane.org/pub/petcare_litterbox

A couple tips:

Cats don't usually like the plastic liners some people use in litterboxes.

Some cats don't like the hooded boxes.

Cats at times don't like the box to be anywhere that they also have to eat and drink.

Sometimes the problem is just that the box isn't somewhere private enough. They only like to "go" somewhere that is low-traffic, quiet, and very private.

Also, try putting the litterbox in the place that he's been pooping so he gets the idea. Also be sure to put the poop that didn't make it in the litterbox, so he gets the reminder.

A few thoughts...is there anything that coincides when he goes on the matress?

Hope all that helps!

Let us know how it goes!
