This is the essay I wrote for school about APBT's (American Pit Bull Terriers).. Let me know how you all like it!

“Living Devilsâ€. “Born Killersâ€. “Murderersâ€. “Bloodthirstyâ€. These are just some of the terms and names that have been used to describe these wonderful, misunderstood dogs. Thatâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s right, the American Pit Bull Terrier. I am here to defend these truly wonderful, innocent dogs.

"ALL OF THESE USELESS KILLERS SHOULD BE LINED UP AND SHOT DEAD!!!" This is the message that the ban has brought upon society. What if in a town, the police noticed that red Toyotaâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s caused more accidents than any other? Would they ban the car? Or would they train the drivers? The actual car cannot say where it goes, it must be controlled! This is the same with dogs. 98% of all of the dog attacks were dogs what werenâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t properly trained, or not fixed.

“When the deadly cottonmouth snake struck out at "her" children, Dixie never hesitated.†“Even after all the puppy had been through, Cheyenne was a little bundle of joy†These are just two of many, many such headlines that are about these dogs. So, why are they hated so much? Because people do not take in into consideration that they can help stop the killings without banning! All it takes is to train each and every dog firmly, and match each dog properly with an owner.

Pit Bulls were once extremely popular family dogs. Loyal to the death, they would protect children and ward off danger. Bloodthirsty breeders found that they would protect their owners to the death, so they trained them to fight. They were never, ever taught to bite a human. Dogs that did bite their handlers were immediately â€[emoji]8482[/emoji]culledâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]. These dogs are still being fought to this day. The dogs that do not fight as their owners think they should are starved, beaten, and neglected.

“Even though she has been so terribly tortured and has more scarring on her body than healthy tissue and is missing most of her facial flesh, she still tries to give kisses... It is incredible that a dog ridden with infection, missing her lips, and basically torn apart and tortured STILL tries to give kisses even though it probably causes her pain.†These dogs have never done anything to cause any type of cruelty, let alone this gruesome torture. I am joining forces with others to spread the truth. I thought that Canada is supposed to be a great country. So banning a breed is helping that status? This is one time that I am not proud to say “ I am Canadian.â€

Great! I like your essay and you make your point very well. I would only make one recommendation... that would be that you spend a few minutes proofreading it for grammatical errors before turning it in.

Great essay! I adore pit bulls, their muscular bodies and strength and their awesome, happy personalities! I would like to own a few someday. I fostered one once named Heaven, black and white, she was small and I have never seen such a muscular dog, she was so strong! She walked us and ran soooo fast! She came from the shelter I worked at. Most pitts had to be euthanized but we passed her off as a terrier mix hehe since she was the colors of a boston terrier, we said she was a mix with a bulldog. Probably not the right thing to do but she did NOT come from fighting background like most of the pitts we got in (which is why the euthanization policy came to be) so was from a breeder and whoever bought her left her behind when they moved. She was doomed otherwise.

Our other shelter dogs were beautiful pits but they were from fighting parents. They were the most lovable puppies but one day when they were 4 months old, they just all attacked eachother, ripped a couple of them to shreads, got a hold of the arms of two employees trying to break them up. It was so sad, we all loved them and knew they would be fine alone with one home but couldn't chance it. Plus I guess with their rare colrs (blue and red merle and really odd brindle colors) they were SUPPOSEDLY worth $15,000 and couldn't risk being stolen. So they were all euthanized.

All the other dogs, the old sweet fighter pit bulls, they were so nice and happy to be around us and be pet. But couldn't even see eachother, they were all covered in scars and ripped up. We had to hold them just long enough to get attached and learn their personalities then the board decided to euthanize them all. We called it doggie dying day and we were all crying. No one spoke to the board members for awhile after that. They are never around and hardly even saw ANY of the animals, not just the pits. but they make decisions like this without our input. RRGG.

Sorry to rant but that whole incident made me realize how much I want to help and rescue pit bulls someday. Ant this post made me think about it again. They are wonderful dogs.

Your grammar wasn't bad!
I was only concerned about you turning it in and the teacher nitpicking the little things. Some are like that

I personally love Pit Bulls.

The media and irresponsible owners are responsible for the impression people have of Pits. The CDC also lists the three most dangerous dogs as: Pitbull, German Shepard Dog, and Rottweiller. I've been in contact with ALL these breeds and have never seen them be anything but loving and wonderful. I wouldn't hesistate to have any of these breeds in my home and I have other animals and a child here.

Another good link about pits is this one: www.understand-a-bull.com

It's really informative and more people should take the time to learn about these wonderful dogs.

I know, Amykins... I have a 14 year old German Shepherd.. And although she has tried to nip strangers, she has never EVER bit someone that she knew.

And, the only people that she has bit were people who she had not been introduced to. She didn't know that they were friends, so why shouldn't she bite? Dogs are SO misunderstood... It's the people who are messed in the head...
