Hello
Im just wondering if there is anything you can do about a female spraying while in heat? Snickers has her appt to be fixed at the end of May but thats sooooo far away. lol I mean she in her heat cycle right now so she will defiently have it one more time before she goes in and now she is spraying.
Im so bummed because she had been doing so well and then we just noticed last night that she was spraying and then I saw her do it again this Am in my sons bedroom on the carpet. I cant have her peeing all over the house. She went into heat Friday night and its Tuesday now and shes still in heat. I just wondered what I can do to discourage her spraying. Im assuming that since its spraying thats why there is not alot of urine but its still there and since Ive only found two spots my guess is shes doing it else where as well.
We just had to rip our carpet out of our home because the previous owners had cats that obviously used the carpet for their bathroom and we dont want to have to throw anything else away and I really want to keep Snickers but my husband is so upset with her right now.
Any advice would be great........thanks.

Since it's just a short term thing I know they make what they call stud pants for breeders to use. I assume by their name they are made for the Tom cats but they probably would work for the females too. Of course I have no idea where you could buy them.

Yes many females will spray when in heat (and sometimes out too). Whole cats are just like this. I'd try to confine her to a room where its easy to clean up and not have her spraying on wood or carpet till its time to spay.

And call the vet and see if there is any cancellation that you could take to get her in sooner

Put a diaper on her and pray it is over soon. I hope it is the beginning of may because they go in to heat every 2 weeks and she might go out and start again in a matter of days.

Thanks everyone!!
Nope my appt is May 26th......
I did ask them to put me on a cancellation list so they said they would call if they had someone cancel. Today I took our Beagle to the vet and asked there as well how long it would be and they said about four weeks but BIG difference in prices. At the clinic its $45 to get her fixed at the vet its $203.............WOW!!! Huge difference. So we shall stick with the clinic since the time frame is the same and the price much cheaper.
I cant imagine putting a diaper on her? How would she go to the litter box?
The only time she seems to be spraying is late and night and first thing in the AM although I have not seen any other spots Im sure they might still be there. I cant imagine locking her up in one room. She would be miserable.........**sigh** I guess Ill try calling back to the shelter and bugging them about if anyone has called and canceled an appt. yet.

I say let her use the diaper. She will go in the box but it will be in the diaper. work for you but saves your items that she is spraying...

As long as you give her attention, there should be no reason you can't lock her up for awhile. Unless you really enjoy trying to find the spots she's sprayed.

Keep in mind if you don't find them, she or another cat will and will use that spot to pee later...take your choice.

I have no problem in confining a cat for awhile for their benefit.

You said she likes to bang on the window. You will have to protect her from herself.

Feliway Plug-Ins, all I have to say
That are designed to help control unwanted behaviors like spraying.

Ok Ill give Feliway a try.........question would be where is the least expensive place to buy it. It appears to be about $30 and you have to buy the plug in separate??
Im going to surf the web a bit for it.
Thanks everyone
