Change in lifstyle issue

As most of you know I got a job that starts tomorrow. This will be the first time since we got Karma that she will be left with my DH without me. I am worried about how she will act. She loves him but is addicted to me. She will eat only if I am in the kitchen, goes potty when I do and if I am not in there when she has to go she lets me know she is going potty, she likes to nap on my lap ,chest or arms. I spend hours a day just playing andtalking to her. My DH works at home so I know he won't have the time to give her that I have.

Is there something I can do to help ease her into it? My first shift is only 4 hours but to a kitty thats forever. Will she freak out on me when I come home? I don't want her to think I am abandoning her. Also will she freak out on my DH thinking he did something to me?

A little background on her. She was a semi-feral stray whos old family just up and left her. She is 2 1/2 and spayed. When we got her she was injured and need love.

Well, she will eat without you - no animal starves itself over that (nice as you may be :-)) - she just likes to have fun when you're there. And they do not have the same sense of time people do - time is just more or less, and nothing ever starved or died of loneliness in 4 hrs.

Im just worried about her. She is my baby. I think it may be harder on me then on her.

She will know have to go it alone. It wil be hard on her.

She will be okay, it's not like you are leaving her for too long of a time. Just give her extra love and treats when you come home.

You think you can talk your DH into wearing one of your dresses so she'll feel more secure? LOL (Only kidding)

For starters, I would suggest taking something like a pillowcase that's been on your pillow so has your scent (don't wash it) and let your DH have her lay on it, or put it on his lap if he holds her. Having your scent around will make her more comfortable.

Eventually she'll get used to the new schedule, and you'll enjoy how excited she'll be when you do finally come home.

Charmed654321 - The pillow case idea is good, I'll just put my whole pillow on the couch next to him so she will feel better. She steals it everynight anyway.

WellingtonCats - yes, my new job starts on my birhtday. Its the best gift I could get. The first real job with a steady income and benefits in over a year and a half.
