I love my cats very much, but the sweetest cat I've ever known was a big black & white male cat from the shelter. He was about 10 or 11 years old & just got adopted a couple months ago. I just found out last night that he died last week.
I was devistated. It was almost like losing one of my own. I cried for at least an hour. He really was the best guy. I'll never forget his world class head butts, the wonderful face & hair washes he would give or the way he would bang on the cage as soon as I walked in the door.
I'm so thankful he spent his last couple months in a home where he knew he was loved. I feel so bad for the people that adopted him, I can't even imagine. I didn't sleep much last night because I loved him so much. To me this is one of the hardest parts of doing cat rescue. SO, here's the image I had in my head this morning.

I rolled his cage over the rainbow bridge & opened the door & watched as he ran off through the grass. Untill I see you again big man.
R.I.P.

Your post really got to me
I let my big, beautiful, tuxedo cross the bridge about 2 months ago - he had FeLV and it was fast and furious. I know what you mean about the head butts - I miss them so much!

So sorry for your loss - sounds like you're having a rough time. I hope you find comfort that he had a loving home before he passed on. I can see him running through the grass and frolicking with all the other big kitties who have passed before him. RIP, sweet guy!

I am so sorry for your loss. I am glad to know the cat had someone who loved him so much. I am partial to black and white cats, especially tuxedos.
They are special. Rest in peace sweet kitty until you meet those who loved you again.

I am very sorry for the loss of this beloved cat. How great that he spent his last months in a loving home.

I like the little picture of you helping over the bridge to freedom! You will see him again someday!

I'm feeling better today, but it was a very sudden death & I was supprised to hear about it. I just needed a little time to grieve. He really was such a great cat.

oh so heartbreaking.
However, I am so happy that in the same time span, he found love and comfort with a family insted of dying old and alone in a cage.
RIP ole boy.
