Thanks for the replies, Jeanie and Hissy. Grushenka and Tatyana are progressing in their adaptation. They will now come out and look down at the retriever from the top of the stairs--ready to scurry back into the bedroom should he indicate any sign that he has seen them. They are so very different in personality. Grushenka is bigger, more gregarious and adventuresome---a true extrovert. Tatyana seems a bit frail, shyer and quieter in general. She is the talker, and the one to follow me first and sit on me first should I light anywhere. She also eats less than Grushenka.

Jeanie--am still with the program--four months, three weeks and two days--even made it through the loss of my beloved 15 month old Rottie. She went into kidney failure, was on and off IV for two weeks without any improvement. She just woke up one morning, vomiting. BUN and creatine were way above normal and a sonogram showed bilateral congenital kidney disease. She was very tiny at birth and remained small--but still too large for her malformed kidneys to eliminate the wastes. That makes me worry about Tatyana---also small.....anyway, both cats will be examined by the vet this week. Again, thanks for replying. [email protected] Ha!--put both a sweaty tee shirt and one of Gatsby's towels under the bed. May have helped, as the kittens slept on my bed next to Gatsby's crate last night.

 I love the character Grushenka from The Brothers Karamazov. How funny to imagine your cat as Grushenka.

It's good to hear your little ones are coming out more. They sound so precious, but all kittens are.

I'm so sorry to hear about your rottie.
That had to be so hard, especially after your experience with the fire not too long ago. He'll be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge, and is playing right now with your other rottie and siamese.

Twit-em, I'm going to have trouble remembering that you are Gatsby! So, you're an F. Scott Fitzgerald fan! I'm so glad you're continuing on the program. Please e-mail me and give me the details. Funny, today I really wish I could have a ciga-no! no! no! no! no! no! no!
Why don't you join us in writing our mystery story? It is under Paws and Reflect. You are an English teacher too, aren't you? It's fun. Each person adds a bit, so we don't know in what direction we're going! It works, though!
