Our front door was hit with a paintball!!

Yesterday afternoon while I was on TCS I heard a funny thump I thought it was the cats messing around but Neil had come in the house about 10 minutes or so later. He called me to look at the front storm door and about 5 ft from ground and reddish/orangish splat!!! We first couldn't figure out what it was but I looked on the concrete in front of the door and we saw little paint shards so we guessed it must have come from a paintball gun. However was it someone driving dow the road doing this and directly across the road is a farm field that was being plowed. As our house is a good 150 ft or so from the road do these travel far??? It hit the frame and the glass another couple inches over would have been all glass and I don't know if they have enough force to break glass o not.
How crummy is that having kids joyriding doing this sort of damage!!

That could have been pretty nasty!. Whats wrong with teenagers today that their so bored they have to target peoples property like that!.

I saw two kids a few weeks ago aged only about 8-9, and one of them kicked off the small cable box from the house opposite

Gail, I told you to stop harrassing those kids down the street from you. They are much younger than you...and now they have paintball guns. That's what you get for toilet papering thier house.
lol. Just kidding..

But yea...That's no good. Could have broke something. I really think ANY type of gun shouldnt be allowed in kid's hands ever. Unless parents are watching, by law ya know?

Its the joys of country life alone with getting the mailbox bashed in every other year or so (no wait I bashed it myself last time with the truck!!)

They can break glass, but not from 150 ft away probably. Although if it hit 5 feet up I bet they were probably standing in your yard, not driving by. And paintball guns are very easy to get, just go to a Walmart that has a hunting section. Thats so stinky that somebody did that!! Poop on them!

How do you know it was teenagers?

When you live on a rural road you kind of know "the neighbors". Not many people every walk by our house perhaps a couple of people a week so it has to be some joyriders looking to cause trouble!!

Are you serious? I guess it could just have easily been a gang of 30 y.o. women roaming the neighbourhood looking for trouble. You know how out of hand they can get!

People just dont have respect these days

Regarding getting your mailbox bashed:

Get two mailboxes, one much larger than the other. Put one inside the other and fill up the space between with concrete.

Mount the mailbox on a heavy-duty post. You will never get your mailbox bashed again...

Sorry to read this Gail. I remember watching a news show where it was caught on tape that some dumb teenagers were joy riding, shooting people on the street with paint balls!

Sorry to hear about your door...we've never had anything like that done, but when I had my own house people would steal my lawn ornaments.

Did anyone ever stop and think that not only kids/teenagers do these things? I say stupid PEOPLE who did this regardless of what age they were.

I agree with that. When I shot guns as a kid, it was under adult supervision and I learned to respect that. The range of a paintball is about 150 feet, so it was probably a random shot, which is no less stupid or dangerous of course.
Range and accuracy really depends on what setup the kid was running. My Spyder shutter with hard springs and the pressure turned up chronoed in at 340 feet per second! Usually won't break windows if they're running low pressure or cheap guns... If they want to smash stuff they use marbles. Marbles + paintball gun = dangerous!
Oh and it sucks about the door, but I really doubt they were targeting you... either a stray round or some person just being lame

Gah, Gail!! How annoying for you!

Our windows in Student Halls were paintballed all the time - but the people in the flat opposite! Grrr They are just idiots with too much time on their hands, I reckon!!
