I just posted about baby #4 in my other thread, but I'm getting worried and need to get your attention!!!!

Summary, baby number 4 just born, 46 hrs after onset of labor and 35 hours after baby #3.

From post in other thread:

"I'm going to keep an eye on this one because momma wasn't with him when I came in and he doesn't seem to want to eat right now and the first 3 were right on her for the first few hours so I don't know if this is normal. He looks healthy, but I want to make sure. Any advice would be appreciated! (Another solid orange on, btw) Thanks!"

Just went back in to visit and was able to take #4 away from momma and hold it.....it NEVER cried. Rooted around a little like it was looking for food, then went to sleep. When it did meow, it wasn't nearly as forceful as the other 3's meows.

Should I be worried? I wanted to pick up one of the others to compare breathing rates, but they were eating and would have screamed if I had taken them away. Then, of course, mom wpold get upset.

I'm not sure what to do. Just wait and worry I guess.

He did for a couple minutes that I saw, but usually roots around and if doesn't find one, he goes to sleep. Momma left them for a few minutes to eat and when she came back the others ran right to her and got to chowing but this one just laid by himself (4 inches away from any of them) and went to sleep. I put him back up to momma and he started rooting around again.

Edited 9:31 pm....

Maybe he wasn't sucklingwhen I saw him.. He was laying in the row with the others, but I just went in and moved the other 3 and put him right up there and he rooted for a few seconds and just stopped. I'm worried!!! I don't know if replacement milk would do any good, but now all the stores are closed so I can't even get any!!! Arrrgggghhhh!!! He's very lethargic.

Ok, we're doing better now. I called the emergency vet hospital and she said put karo syrup (have none), pancake syrup (used it all last week), or sugar on its gums to perk it up. I used sugar and now he is suckling. Hopefully he will be ok now. I'll keep an eye on him tonight. ::sigh of relief::

Does he have milk coming from his nose? If he is latched on can you pull him off easily? If you have a digital mail scale weigh him before and after he eats to see if he is gaining any weight.

If you answered yes to the first two questions, take him to the vet to be checked for cleft palate ASAP.

He seems to be fine now. The sugar did the trick. He definitely latches on good. Momma got up and walked off last night. The other 3 fell right off, but he hung on for a good 3 feet! Momma Missy looked confused when she saw him on the floor that far away from the closet. It was funny.

My 6 year old was quite shocked when he peeked in the closet this morning...."Mom, there's 4 kittens!!!" I wonder how many times he counted them before he was sure there were 4. lol

This one's name is Yoda and he is a little lighter orange than Crash, but I think I'm still going to have a problem telling them apart.

Thanks for all your concern everyone!
