I think if you follow the link in K M's thread you will find one of the reasons why people do not really celebrate St Goerge's Day.
Apparently it is offensive to be English in England

That was not the case when I was a child,I used to go to a Church of England school and I used to be in the Guides and Brownie's so we always celebrated St Georges Day.

I remember always going to church with my Rainbows/Brownies/Guides when it was good ol' St George's day!

Sort of like St Pats and St Andrews? I saw a question on Who wants to be a millionare today and one was who was the Saint of Ireland or something!
