Ok as most of you know we took in a stray, Snickers, and have decided to keep her. There is a possibility that she is pregnant. Her nipples have poked out and are obvious and that is the only thing that makes me think she might be other than her being a stray and living outside.

My question is?? When a cat goes into heat do their nipples do the same thing as when they get pregnant? Poke out a little? Hormones??
Last night Snickers was going from window to window obviously wanting out but not really being too vocal about it. She would meow from time to time but that was it. It didnt keep us up at night or anything and today she is totally normal. Not meowing at all and sleeping and playing like usual. So last night I was thinking maybe shes beginning to go in Heat, but I just dont know.lol
My one friend said I will know because she will constantly cry???
We are just now really hoping she is pregnant and would be bummed if shes not so I figured I have nothing to lose to ask.
Thanks so much!!
We have only had Snickers for a little over a week now. We brought her home on April 13th. So Im sure it will take weeks to know for sure if shes pregnant or not unless she goes nuts tonight.
Oh another question.....when they go in heat is it all the time or just at night.
Thanks everyone!!

Nothing to be bummed about at all - so many kittens will be put down in shelters this spring that having one less litter is a blessing to all!

Congratulations on your new kitty Snickers, and may you have many happy years with her!

Spring is here, and there will be rescue organizations and shelters that would love to have your help in fostering a Mom and kittens. It may be something you really enjoy, and want to do more. Shelters would love to have someone in their area to count on when they have pregnant Cats.
Thank you for taking Snickers in for her spaying, she is going to thank you for it.

Yea I know its a good thing that shes not preggers.
And I hope they can get her in ASAP for her spade....This cat is dangerous when shes in heat. She throws herself at the windows. I cant beleive she hasent broke one yet. Its pretty bad thats for sure. Her crying is the least of it though. She just throwing herself around. On the floor against the couch and at the windows.........Wow I didnt realize it would be so violent. THankfully it should be over soon.........I hope.lol Just to go through it again in a few weeks. Im really hoping they get her in quick.

Poor Snickers, I hope she doesn't hurt herself.
Missy would stick her butt in the air a lot, not much meowing and never threw herself against anything.

Snickers does the bum in the air as well, but at night she goes nuts. During the day its just some meowing and bum up in the air but at night shes fighting to get outside. She will get all caught in the blinds so I started leaving the blinds up but then you could hear her whaming the window.
I feel so bad for her because shes only doing what God made her to be doing and shes desperate to get out there and mate. Im hoping when I call tomorrow that they can get her in quickly but usually its at least four weeks.

There could be a male outside that she is trying to get to. He could be trying to get in as well. Can you enclose her in a small room to keep her calmer?
