Hi everyone,
Im writing because the cat that I loved just died today, when I woke up it was sleeping in an akward pose on the front of my house, when I looked closer ants were crawling out of its eyes. I dont understand what happened since I examined it and found nothing, no scracthes, no blood, nothing, only its tummy really wet the fur looked like hair gel had been rubbed in it and messed it up a little. I just buried her but I wonder what could have happened, some please suggest she could have been poisoned and that she licked her tummy from the pain, any guesses?

thanks.

Without examination by a vet (and x-ray), it's impossible to say, though it sounds possibly like what you might see if a large dog had had her in its mouth, but even that might have happened afterward. What you guessed doesn't sound as likely because poison wouldn't work that fast and she probably would have gone to hide somewhere under a bush. Hopefully whatever it was happened quickly. Don't make yourself more upset than you must already feel by wondering 'who' poisoned her, etc. It will only leave you with a terrible load of anger in future and not bring her back, nor answer for sure what happened. Even a vet couldn't be positive anyway as many things disappear from the body quickly after death. It's too bad that things happened that way and it is hard to accept. Remember the good times you had with her, how long you made each other happy. Very sorry.

I have no ideas about what the cause may have been but I just wanted to say I'm really sorry. How horrible.

Thank you for your support and help. The thing is, that Im finding it hard to forget, her death I mean and I think its because I dont know why she died, the mystery makes it harder to overcome.

another thing I found was that one of her eyes had turned wierd, a pale color like the color eyes go when they go blind.

It an be very difficult to come to terms with a loved ones death when the nature of what happened is unknown. I experienced much the same situation with a very young dog two years ago and the wound is still as raw as the month after we lost him.

Sometimes we just have to accept that we will never know.

Your cat loved you and knew she was well loved in return. She would not want you to continue to beat yourself up for circumstances that were so very clearly out of your control. You need to grieve and spend time with people who will understand your loss- if you have no family or friends to be with please visit http://www.petloss.com/

My deepest sympathies....

im so sorry for your loss, its not easy loosing a loved one.

I had a dog poisioned years ago. She had vomited before she died, i think that would be a good indication of poisioning. Again im so sorry....

I took sympathize with your loss. It could have geen so many causes. She could have been hit by a car even. Several yrs ago we found one of our cats dead in our backyard-it looked like she was trotting on down to the veg garden and she just fell over and died. We here mystified by her death. Please remember at her best and don't dwell over her loss. I have lost cats tragically over the years and mourn their death but remember their life as well.

Just a thought.. As I remember when my cat fell over dead. I did some research and web searching. I found that the most common undiagnosed cat deaths are from cardiomyopathy? Everything that I have read about it seems to point to the "drop dead" effect that went on with my Ginger. He just fell over dead one morning before work. It was clean and neat but still today I wonder if there was something I could have done to prevent it. Sorry to hear about your cat. I do feel at ease that I burried my cat. I know where he is.

I have no idea what could have happened..but I just wanted to say I'm very sorry..and hopefully you can somehow get some closure in this situation. I know you must be feeling awful about it..I can't imagine going through that.

Could have been a number of things. Early age heart attack or FIP or something like that. Another animal could have started messing with her and got scared off.
