OK, so it's been 2 weeks since Yen's kitten died and the other was put down, and then last couple nights she's been meowing funny and trying to escape outside. I've never seen a female cat in heat.

Question 1: How soon can a queen go into heat after she's had her kittens?

Qestion 2: Do her behaviors suggest that she may be in heat?

p.s. She is penciled in to get fixed. This was the soonest the vet was willing to fix her after her kittens.

From posts I have read here... they can get pregnant a week after having a litter. She could very well be in heat again.

If the meow is kind of like a loud, mournful "Murrraoowww" and very insistent (ie: lasting all darn night!)... I think you have a girl in heat.

Make sure you keep her inside until she can make it to the doctor!

And so sorry the kitten died.

when my first foster when into heat, she went in heat for about a week, then out for a couple of days, then in heat again for another week. This went on untill she got fixed. My mom who grew up on a farm, said that it goes on like that for their entire season. Im not sure how long that really is though.
Sorry.

I've seen heat cycles run from a day or two up to a couple of weeks. It can be very annoying, especially at night!

Another thing they tend to do is sort of squat their back legs a little, stick their butts in the air, and and sort of go back and forth from foot to foot with a little throaty grr grrr grr sound.

Just take comfort in the fact that it will stop as soon as she is fixed.

Sorry about your kittens. She could very well be in heat.

I think the length depends on the cat. Missy would go for about 7 days then off for 3 weeks.

ok. Thanks.

Well since Yen's been in heat, she's turned into a whole different cat. She was sort of shy and kept mainly to herself and then when she did sleep with me, it would be at the foot of the bed and she could never just sit and be petted, she would like walking around.

Now that she's in heat, she's way more friendly, sitting in the window, very social and she's been sleeping on my back(i like sleeping on my tummy). It is a welcome change. I love this affectionate side. Hopefully this isn't just because she's in heat!

It might be to some extent, but what I've tended to find is that once a cat is spayed or neutered, they are in less discomfort, and therefore end up being more affectionate anyway, and for better reasons (not just because they are, shall we say, amorous)
lol
