my cat, kitty, is free fed. we have her food and water in the bathroom. She has always been sort of a social eater, like most animals i have noticed. But lately it has gotten to be an obsession. It's not a concern of her not eating cause she will eventually eat if we are in there or not but her behavior is worsening with her wanting us in the bathroom. Its almost to the point where we can't take a step in the house and she is hollering wanting to lead us to her food. If we do go in the bathroom for anything else, we notice that a lot of times she won't even eat. She just wants us in there with her. She always go right to her food, sniffs and then is content. Her food is fine, she loves it. Its Iams. It's always fresh and she does eat it. But I don't know why this obsession is getting worse. for the most part we ignore it and just let her fuss, but I just want to make sure its not hurting her situation. Does anyone else have a similar senario? Is there more than whats on the surface? Thanks

Maybe if you feed her at one or two specific times of day instead of free, she'll be hungry at those times and more likely to eat. Not only physically will she be more hungry, but it will become force of habit for her to eat at those times. That force of habit could counter her social eating habit. You can then work on standing next to her while eating, then a foot away, then 2 feet aways, then 3, ec.
