I still haven't seen the kitten I have poop. He hasn't pooped since before I got him. He hasn't pooped for sure since 6pm yesterday. He may not have pooped for awhile before then.

Should I be worried? He seems very vocal, so I fed him again. He was really hungry & ate good. He has been peeing everytime I stimulate him.

kittens may not poop for a while, especially when brought into a new environment. Prue didnt poo for 30 hours after i got her, but she is fine today. as long as he/she is eating and drinking, they will poop when they are more comfortable

Admittedly I don't know much about bottle babies, but I wouldn't think it's normal to go so long without pooping. Are you able to call a vet to ask them?

I have a 4-week old foster that doesn't poop regularly. I have been mixing pumkin in her KMR/bottle and unfortunately, have to give baby enimas.

Not sure of the age of your little one, but keep a close eye out...not "pooping" may require a vet. visit.

My bottle baby (at three weeks) didn't poop either for 36 hours, so I took her to the vet. They had me add liquid KMR, diluted to 1/2 strength and I added that to her Hartz powder formula mix-half diluted KMR/ half Hartz (I didn't want to totally change foods all at once). She still didn't want to poop, so it was enemas and (get ready) stimulation with a thermometer, followed by the warm, wet, baby wash cloth. They said to call again if none of that worked, and it did, but still only every other day. I guess maybe it's like breast fed babies going every time, vs. formula babies going less often. But call your vet; they may need to check to see if she is constipated, and go from there. (Freaked me out, too- all my other bottle babies had the opposite problem
). Yesterday, however, she went in the litterbox all on her own
and everything seems to be going "smoothly"
.

Wait, we always gave the cats with really runny stools the pumpkin to harden it, so wouldn't that give the baby a harder time pooping if it's stools are harder?

I don't know the answer to that, but the pumpkin is added for fiber, right? And isn't fiber added to some people's diets (along with added fluids) to relieve constipation? Maybe that's why?

Too much pumpkin can give them the runs, so...

I treid everything I could think of. I went to the HS this morning waayyy early so I could talk to someone. They took him to the vet. One of the vet techs was holding him up & she wiped his butt once & he pooped everywhere. I guess this little guy needs to be held straight up & down to poop.
Anyways, they found someone to foster him long term since I am going to have to be gone for classes 2 days a week for 5 hours or more.

They did applaud me. They had a hard time getting him to eat more than .5 cc. I got him not only to drink from a bottle, but to eat as much as he should be.

I am soooo looking forward to sleeping the whole night though!

Oh, to sleep the whole night through!
I keep telling myself it will happen very soon-almost there
- of course, here I sit typing instead of sleeping
This is what my husband would like to do to me for not getting sleep when I can
!

Good job finding the foster home and doing what you did for the kitten
!! Are you going to get him back when he's big enough, or are they going to find him a home?

Yes, a small amount of pumpkin is added to relieve constipation...also a drop of vegetable oil/olive oil added to kitten food aids in constipation.
