I have two cats winter and smokey. Winter got out when she was in heat. I tried to catch her but could not. she came home january 9,2006 as I tried to catch her this day and was still in heat leads me to brlieve she mated this day. She still has not given birth. from what I know they are only suppose to be pregnant for 60-70 days. I am a little concerned for her. This is her second litter. Her first litter she was pregnant for about 70 days and gave birth to seven kittens. she is very incomfortable and has picked out her spot this week but other than that there is no signs of her giving birth. Should i wait it out or take her to see the vet? I had to help her out last time with cleaning and with the placenta of one. I also had to hand feed that one for a few days. She seemed to overwhelmed with the amount of kittens she had. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I am worried about my baby.

Do you have a good vet? I would at least call. The moment I made the appt for an emergency C-section, my Adina gave birth
According to my records she was a week over. The babies were all normal size.
Is she having any discharge from her vagina
. My vet said if the discharge looks brown, green or frothy that is a sign something is wrong. If in doubt, make an appointment.

i will call in the morning and see if i can find a vet in the area as i have just moved and our vet is 70 miles away. I have not noticed any vaginal discharge as Winter keeps herself very clean. She has been washing that area frequently lately. also our other cat smokey who is her sister from the same litter as winter also washes her. they seem to bathe each other. they are very close not sure what I will do if you one should ever pass away.

Are you sure she is pregnant & you have the dates right? Because it would be impossible for her to carry them that long. Please keep us updated....

yes she is definatly pregnant acording to the vet and you can feel them kick. i am sure of when it took place. as she has not been outside since then. If I am off it would only be by a day or two and it would be earlier than jan 9th.

I'm not sure on that one, But I have never heard of this before, It sure seems impossible to me. Did you ask the vet about it? Very Interesting. I can't wait to see when she will have them.

she said that is hard to tell when she will have them. I have not had her to vet recently. she was in about 2 months ago. I have no idea how many she will have this time. I hope she goes tonight.

Well good luck to you & Winter, I hope everything goes smooth. Has she bagged up with milk yet? Or is she having any discharge? My girl hope had a bit of discharge & then had 5 kittens from 9:11-10:41 she even had 2 at one time. Talk about fast for a persian delivery. lol

i am kinda new to this whole kittens thing. i did feel by her nipples and that is the only part of her belly that is not rock hard. not really sure what that means. she has been acting kinda strang today. she is a cat that does not come around to often for attention. I think this has something to do with my 5 yr old daughter and my 2 year old daughter. she does not want to messed with but today she climed up in my lap for 45 minutes and i petted her and when she was purring it was like growling purr. She acted as if she was gonna vomit 5 or 6 times and then got down as sat by my feet for about 2 hours.

Sounds like she is getting close, Hope was really clingy & I definatley noticed her breathing & purring were in a different pattern. Is there any discharge coming from her vulva area? Good Luck to you...

I cannot tell as she cleans herself really well and i called the vet today and told me that she should be taken in for an x-ray to see how many she is having and to see the approximate justation. How can they tell the justation from an x-ray? I said I would give her a day or two because she is acting as if she will have them in the next 48 hours or so. The vet has agreed that if she is still pregnant on monday I should take her in.

Just the thought of going to the vet will scare them out of her
If she is cleaning her backside more than usual, it means there is probably a discharge of some sort. It means the time is close
. If you go out for a while she will probably have them. Sometimes they wait until all is quiet and they can be alone. Keep us posted, I bet babies for sure by Sunday.

They can tell by how much skeleton is calcified how far along the babies are. But, FYI, my vet told me that we would have "at least 2 kittens in 10 days - no more." And we had eight kittens 21 days later! They might take her temp, though. It's supposed to drop before birth.

I would like to thank everyone for there help. I did leave today for three hours and still nothing. Hope she has them this weekend as she is getting very uncomfortable, but time will tell. The vet also told me to try and see if I could get something from her nipples. she will run away the second you touch her belly so i hope all is well with my baby.

Does your vet know when you think she conceived? By my count, if she conceived Jan 9th, she's 102 days pregnant! I've heard that max was 72!
They may tell you she needs a c-section since it's been this long.
I hope she has them soon, she must feel ready to burst with babies!
