This will be the first summer that Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]ve had cats and i was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on how to keep my cats comfortable. I live in the valley of California and during the summer it gets up in the triple digits, and so it get really really hot.

Cats are pretty good at finding the cool places in a house. Last summer i had the same problem and poor Lucky (long hair) didn't seem to move all day. I would often find her lying in the bathtub or on the tile floor. If you have fans it's good to use those to keep the air moving around, put ice cubes in the water dish to keep it cool and feed the kitties when it's cool early in the morning or late at night. I ended up investing in a window A/C to bring the temp down in my apartment.

Last summer had Harley when he was just a kitten - but I don't think he had a problem staying cool - we kept the A/C at a good temp where he/we would be comfortable - but on the extra humid days, he would often end up laying/sleeping on the tile floor in the kitchen to stay extra cool

hanks for the tips! This will be my first summer with Sandy, too, and we don't have an A/C. she'll like the ice cubes!

All of our kitties just got shaved down into their lion cuts last night. Except for my little guy that I'm showing. Imagine shaving 8 cats one after another...wheww..But it sure will make my sunday bathing/blowdry/grooming alot easier. They look so cute in the cut as well.

It gets HOT here in the summer, and we don't have A/C, so I've had to find creative ideas to keep the kitties cool! One I particularly liked was taking ceramic tiles and chilling them in the freezer, then laying them in a shady part of the house for the kitties to lay on.

Ice in the water helps, as well as cool "popcicle" treats (I buy a sodium free chicken broth that I freeze into cubes, they like that).

I've considered getting Nya trimmed this summer, since she's longhaired, but I don't know if I'll end up doing it or not
