I just got off the phone with our friend Carol. It is a go at the sanctuary
She also brought something up to me, about if and where we will be meeting to eat. She wanted to know if we were having some sort of "pot luck"/picnic or if we were going somehwere. I told her we were thinking of meeting somehwere to eat. She said we could have it there, if we so desire, but this would require everyone to bring something to eat/drink and we would also need to bring tables and chairs. Of course, this will only be good if the weather cooperates. I also need an approximate head count, just so she knows what to expect. There is no charge for the visit, but I was hoping we could make a donation to the facility. Maybe a couple bucks from everyone who attends. This is a non-profit facility. Any and all money we donate goes for the care of the animals. As for the directions. I don't know if everyone wants to meet just off the exit on I-71, somehwere in Johnstown or if you want me to give directions directly to the facility. I don't know where everyone will be coming from, so let me know, so I can prepare some accurate directions. Also, does everyone know which way north, south, east or west is?
I ask this, because it makes it much easier to give directions then to say turn left or right. This will be fun. I can finally meet the real people behind the names and you will actually be able to see bobcats, lynxes and cougars in person as well. Carmelo says, can't wait to meet you all chirp chirp
(You will understand what I mean by chirp chirp, when you meet Carmelo)

You know John, I'm in favor of the picnic type thing, but it may or maynot be good for everyone. We'll just go with the majority! We have a couple of tables we could bring. As for donating a few bucks, you bet! I think this is going to be so much fun. You can just give us directions to the place if you think it is fairly easy to find...........we'll be coming from Garfield Heights of course! How long would you say it is to get there from here?

Can't wait to meet Carmelo and all the humans too!
Either a potluck or meeting some place to eat is fine with me. I'll be glad to make a donation too. Will be coming from Cincy.

You will see this when we meet. I will have to put him in one of the enclosures, if we all go somewhere to eat. As we start to leave, he will chirp and scream really loud like he is saying no no, don't go!!
Oh, poor little Carmelo
he just loves his Mommy and Daddy!

as far as a picnic or restaurant, either is fine with me
I can whip something up
and if the place is easy to find then maybe we can just meet there, and a donation is no problem
I'll be coming from Medina, which is just south of cleveland right off 71

Because we don't know what the weather will be like and not all of us have tables and chairs to bring, I like the restaurant idea best.

Very happy to make a donation to the sanctuary!

What exit do we take from I-71. How do we get to the sanctuary once we get off the exit (from both north and south).

This is exciting and I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone!

Awwwwwww! I was sorta speed reading and didn't notice this. Let's find a way to do the picnic so Carmello doesn't have to be left alone.

Yes, we need to get a head count here, so I can let my friend Carol know approx how many to expect.
Because we don't know what the weather will be like and not all of us have tables and chairs to bring, I like the restaurant idea best
I don't think we will need that many tables, depends on how many are coming. I know Carol has a few chairs there, just in case we do not have enough. I think this is something we sort of have to wait and see, maybe a few days before. We can get an idea of what the weather is going to do. I prefer to be outdoors instead of a restaurant. You are free to move around and you are not stuck inside. There is also the smoking/non smoking issue. I will not sit in any smoking section of a restaurant. If you smoke outside, at least there is plenty of ventilation.

Awww, he won't be alone. He would be at the sanctuary spending time with the other cougars there
However, he is sort of a big baby and gets a little scared of the adult cougars

What exit do we take from I-71. How do we get to the sanctuary once we get off the exit (from both north and south).
Ok, I wll post the directions now. Let me know if this is clear for everyone. I am giving directions from I-71. If anyone is coming from another direction, please let me know so I can give you directions as well.
Ok, from I-71 north and south, exit at RT 36/37 Sunbury, Ohio (exit #131). Head east on RT 36/37 (Make a left if you are traveling south on I-71, make a right if you are heading north). Approx 4 miles from I-71. RT36/37 split. Continue east on RT 37 (Go straight). Just after the split, you will be in the town of Sunbury. Continue to follow 37 through the town. (This is a very small town). Once you go through Sunbury, you will follow 37 until you get to County Line Road. This is approx 8 miles from the town of Sunbury. It is a country road, so there isn't any landmarks for me to give you. County line road is right on the border of Delaware and Licking Counties, hence the name of the road. Turn right on County Line Road. Take County Line rd approx 1 or 2 miles to Blamer. This is the second street on the left once you get onto County Line Road. Blamer is a very skinny road, about the width of a common driveway. You will go .6 of a mile (6 tenths) and the Sanctuary will be on your left. There is no sign for the sanctuary, it is at her residence. I will try to put up balloons or a sign that says welcome TCS. I hope this is clear. If you have questions, please ask. I will be there early to help do some work and so that Carmelo will be calmed down from his ride.

Great directions John. Why don't you start a new thread with a poll like other meetups have done in the past and ask who ever wants to come to please post.

If anyone wants a phone number, email or PM me in private. I can give you our cell number. If I give you our friend's, she sometime has the phone off. We need a head count here, so I can tell her approx how many people will be there. I also need to tell everyone, that Carmelo may not be coming. I went down to the sanctuary last Saturday. I tried to bring him then, but he did not want anything to do with going in the car. I did get him in, but once inside, he wasn't very happy. However, it was really warm that day and my car had been sitting in the sun with the windows closed. I didn't get the chance to open the windows in the morning, so it would stay cooler inside. (This was a spur of the moment thing. She called me and asked if I could come down) So, Carmelo may be staying home that day. That's ok, you will see 5 other cougars there as well, if Carmelo doesn't want to go
