I don't think we'd be able to plan something this quickly, but I will be out of town the first weekend of May (6 and 7). After that I'm free every weekend, although I'd prefer a few days notice.

How about sometime in the middle of June or July? I can't guarantee that I can come, just because for some reasons all of our weekends bookup quickly, but you guys know I'll try. Last years meet up was alot of fun!

C'mon! we're more important than anything else!
I think the date will probably rest with John's availability
but mid to late June sounds good to me

John, your idea of meeting at the sanctuary is PURR-FECT! I never got to meet an exotic cat before!! This is so exciting!! Any day or time is good for me. I'd just need a week's notice, especially if our meeting day is on a Saturday.

That sounds like a good date, but where's John at?? we need to check with him since he's coordinating the sanctuary thing... maybe I'll PM him if we don't hear from him soon

June 10th sounds good to me. Dad is supposed to visit sometime in June, but if he's here I'll just bring him along.

Sorry I had not been here in a few days. I have been busy with the enclosure loading pea gravel. Approx 4 tons worth. What a job that was removing all the old wet straw and putting in the gravel. The cats like it much better, no more muddy feet coming into the house. Anyway, June 10th should be fine. I just need to make sure I can get that weekend off from work. I am on vacation the week before that, so I am hoping I can get that Saturday and Sunday off. I should be able too. As for the sanctuary, that should work as well. I just need to call and set up the date. It should be ok as long as there are no other big projects going on that day. Hey, she might put you to work
They are having another house built on the property, but that should not conflict with the tour. They have a female Eurasian Lynx, who I believe is going to have kittens (we are hoping and very excited). She should be due in a couple weeks, so there is the possibilty of baby lynxes as well. There are cougars, bobcats, foxes, an Asian leopard cat hybrid and a group of domestic cats that have been rescued, that will be there. There are no tigers or lions. The name of the facility is, Butternut Farm Wildcat Sanctuary & Education Center, Inc. It is a non-profit facility that started in July 2000, with all the required licensing from the Ohio Division of Wildlife and the USDA (APHIS, Animal Care) Class C license to exhibit. The sanctuary relies on donations from the public (which are tax deductible) to support the cats. Future plans for the sanctuary are; Long-term goals: Convert former residence to administration building with classrooms & veterinary care facilities. Mid-and short-term goals: Identify funding sources & sponsors. Add direct water supply system to the barn & pens. Install washer, dryer & dishwasher (for the cat items). Install phone line to the barn. Find part-time help to assist with animal care and/or administrative work. Develop & maintain a dynamic web site. Train volunteers & offer courses in basic cat husbandry & more advanced topics such as wild cat nutrition & health care, etc. (I took this course). Last but not least, build more cages, a large exercise pen & a quarantine unit. As you can see, there is a lot to do yet, but I wanted to give you a little background on this facility. I enjoy doing work there and look foward to future plans. Now, we need to take a vote. Which one of my big kids do you want to see in person? Amber, Boris or Carmelo? (Nakoma can not come). I also need to point out and make sure that everyone who attends understands this. There will be no physical contact made with the cats, even with mine (petting or holding). This is a USDA facility, so even though I may bring one of mine, I still have to follow the USDA guidlines there. I can handle the cats, but the public can't. I hope everyone understands this. You will be able to get very close to the cats however, just outside the perimeter fence that is 4 feet from the enclosures

Wow 4 tons! that's a lot of gravel, I know what you mean about muddy feet
my dog always manages to find a puddle. The sanctuary sounds so awesome! I'm very excited to see it
I hope the kittens will be born
I'm glad June 10th (possibly) works for you, that seems to be an all around good date for everybody. I'd like to vote for Carmelo as our guest of honor- yeah! I'm so excited to meet everybody!

Well, as of right now, June 10 works for us too. John, I don't care which of your kitties you bring. Any is fine with me. Will Terrie be coming? Jerry probably will.

Wow, you have been busy, John! The sanctuary sounds like an awesome place. Count me in for sure if the 10th works out. Looking forward to meeting whichever big cat you want to bring, and all of you too!

That would make an interesting car ride.

I'd really like to see Boris in purr-son, but any cat you bring will be a pleasure to meet.
Holy cow, I could just imagine me making the trip with our cougar and 2 bobcats in the car
However, I wouldn't have to worry about anyone trying to take my car now would I? What a great anti theft device

You'd have to get a sticker "3 BIG cats security" and put in on your window
I've got this hilarious picture of someone walking up to the car and trying the handle and Boris popping up in the window with this teeth bared

You should get a substantial anti theft discount on your car insurance.

What is the best time for all of us to meet on June 10. I'm hoping not too early because I'm not a morning person. How about noon or 1PM?
