YES SHE CAN... My Skittles got out and has been loving... She is pregnant. Yes only takes 1 frolic and she can get PG at 5 months. Some cats are different.

As she was in loud, irritating heat (according to you) very prior to her escape, yes. There is a HUGE chance that she is pregnant with those symptoms.

Not to be harsh (and by no means attacking you), but in the future, keep as many doors between unspayed cats and the outdoors as possible. if it's a small apartment, crating them for a few seconds before letting your dog out means all the difference between a cat in heat, and a population explosion.

Just because your neighbors aren't allowed to have cats doesn't mean that there are no strays or "secret family pets".

Cats can get pregnant as early as 4 months, and they do not have to be in heat to get pregnant. Most toms will mate any female they can catch.

That is why I suggested temporary confinement. That way, you only have to bother with the dog and the door and will not have to worry about potentially ending up with 1-10 more cats. Sure, she most likely won't be going into heat anytime soon NOw, but what happens when you're doing the same thing a week after the kittens are born and she runs out and gets pregnant again? A bit more prevention= a lot less hassle. As she got out, it clearly wasn't 100% effective.

You've said that you cannot afford to get them spayed for a few months, and kittens will be considerably more expensive than a spay appointment would have been. I am just concerned about how you will be able to properly care for all of them for the duration of the pregnancy (during which she will eat much more), and the care of the kittens for the 10-12 weeks necessary for development before finding them new homes. Also, what if something goes wrong during birth? And what if Prue escapes and gets pregnant?

She's pregnant - even at that young age. They can get pregnant the first time they come into heat and that could be as early as 5-6 months!

A few of our cats came into heat early (barn cats) and would have kits at age 8/9 months old (first heat) - the resultings kittens from them are smaller then normal as the mother was a baby herself and not fully grown.

Prue wont even go near the door, that cat has NO want to go out, even when she was/is in heat. The only reason i said i cannot afford the spay is beacause around here, its $200 per cat, so its going to be a few months before i can clear my ONLY credit card to be able to afford it. right now, i buy wet and dry food for the cats, and they lack for nothing but a spay. If anything went wrong with the birth, there is a emergency cat hospital about 30 minutes away that would take her and help her.

I live in the No. Va area near DC.
re cats getting out.. yesterday I banged my arm, trying to prevent
my foster Miew from getting out. She did get out but I recaptured. Luckily, she is already spay'd (first thing I did when I rescued her...)

Now, when I need to open the front door, I locate her, and put
her in a room with the door CLOSED, LOL. Then I can open the
door do my thing and not worry - plus not hurt myself or scare her
by chasing...

If you can - get her spay NOW - do a kitty "abort". They will do this up
to 3 wks before delivery for you at the vets, particularly if you explain
the problem. If you can't pay now, they may be willing to put you on a payment plan (as I am with my Za's shots etc.) Kittens are *considerably* more expensive than a spay. I have 4 right now from feral Momma, that will be going *thank goodness* into the vet adoption program...so I won't have to pay for THEM! But Za's gonna cost me for shots and all...

Anyway, she probably is prego by now... esp with those symptoms. How long was it since she got out??
