My cat was outside on a harness and started flipping out, I dont know what over but now he's limping on his left front paw. he still plays and purrs but holds it up when he's just sitting around or tucks it under him when he lays down. I called my vet emergency number but they werent any help really. Just said to call and make an appointment tomorrow. Is there anything I can do while I wait for an appointment ??? He's never had any problems before so I'm not sure what to do and am worried. If you can help, thanks so much!!

I wouldn't think it would be broken, perhaps he stepped on a sharp object or a thorn/silver got in the paw. I remember Bobber had a abcess once on her paw but that would develop over a period of several days.
Hope everything turns out ok!!!
Where are you in Wisconsin???

If there is nothing visibly wrong with the foot (e.g. a wound or a protruding broken bone) then most likely the problem is a sprain or something similar. There is really nothing that can be done for this so there is really no reason to rush to the vet. Give it a few days and he should recover fine. If you do go to the vet (which is obviously a perfectly fine thing to do), don't let them talk you into giving him painkillers as long as he is eating and basically acting like himself. Pain is what tells him he is injured. If he doesn't feel pain then he will do his normal crazy stuff and quite possibly hurt himself worse.

He went to the vet this morning cuz I wanted to make sure he was ok. He got a shot and some ketofen that he'll start taking tomorrow one a day. They didnt find anything wrong with him, just that he's limping. He'll walk on it some but then put it back up and hop around, he still plays and is eating and drinking, still his usual self.

Did they take any x rays?

The reason I ask is Grazee broke a bone in her right front paw. It was only through two x rays at different angles that her vet found the injury.

As semiferal suggested it could just be sprained or bruised. Hope he is feeling better soon.
