Mods please move if needed

I am going to try to feed wet to my outdoor cats.... I one would like to know how you all do this as I am unsure... Do I set it out with the dry and then an hour later pick up the leftover?? How much for 4-6 cats??? I put out two cups dry and sometimes have to refill before bed around midnight...

second question
there getting premium dry and when I can theyll get the same wet as the inside ladies ( but those ave about a buck for 5.5 ounce) I cant right now give that consistantly ... what food that come in big can like 12-14 ounce that are under 1.30 on ave???

I don't know how much help I can be, but here's what I think.

I don't know about big cans of food for cheap. I have never even looked at them. I do feed the outside cats wet once a week(shhh...no one has noticed
). I feed them Meow Mix pouches. One pouch per cat, plus the dry food. Fafeena gets 2 pouches 2x a week because of her age. I bought a box of Meow Mix pouches in Target(OK, so 2 dozen boxes) for 3.99 each. I don't know if that helps any. I think that's still more expensive than you want.

It'll be tough to make sure everyone gets some wet food. Are you talking the semi/ferals? I would just set the wet out in several different bowls & places. Come back to retrieve them in 1/2 an hour to an hour. I sit with the outside cats & pet them while they eat, but they are all tame enough to permit that.

When I used to feed ferals, I fed them 2 cups dry and half a can of wet every morning. I used Nature's Recipe, because it was cheap, but not that bad in quality. I didn't want to feed them something too bad. Anyway, I left the wet food out for about an hour. If they hadn't eaten, I'd put in the fridge and put it back out in the evening. And if they still hadn't eaten it, well, my kitties were happy for the treat.
Good luck!

I would be very leary about letting your indoor cats eat food leftovers from stray cats. FeLV and FIV are both transmitted through bodily fluids. Supposedly cats can get it from just sharing food and water bowls. Even if your cats are vaccinated against FeLV and FIV you stil have to remember that vaccines are not 100% effective in preventing the diseases.

Hmmm...I guess I'm not completely useless!

I had one cat that didn't want to eat by me, so everyone else gobbled down the wet food while she stayed back. You was scared of me. Once she figured out what was in the bowl, she wasn't scared anymore. If the cats won't run, you can toss a little chunk of canned food towards them so they know what is in the pan. Sometimes their noses aren't enough.

Good Luck!
