Hello,

I have a 1 yr old female spayed indoor cat that is acting weird. She
will be calm one minute then all of a sudden starts running all over
the house, stopping and licking her paws and tail and then taking off
running again looking for somewhere to hide. I know that she is not
playing because the pupils in her eyes are black as though she is mad
or frightened. I checked her fur for fleas and didn't see any. She's
eating and drinking ok. It's almost as though something is stinging
her... This happened a couple of months ago then stopped so i never
thought anything of it, but now the same thing is happening again.
I've been a cat owner for a long time and never experienced this type
of behavior.. Of course i have only had tabby cats. This is a solid
black cat who's mother was feral.

Does any one have any ideas what could be wrong?

Sounds like it might be feline hyperesthesia syndrome- maybe! not positively, just a direction to look. When you touch her lightly does her skin ripple?

She doesn't like to be pet by her tailbone. She seems so fragile and sensitive... I will look at the websites you listed, thank you..
