I must be grumpy today. Sorry if this thead has been made before, I searched the forum to see if there was one like it and I couldn't find one.

MY pet peeves!
-People who refer to their cell phone as a "cellie."
-People who don't merge fast enough off of the entrance ramp on the highway. I have serious road rage issues.
-Beyonce.

anyone else?

I've probably got close to a million, but here's a few that top my list.

1. Not getting a straw or napkins when you go through the drive thru

2. Tailgaters

3. When people helping you (checking you out) talk to coworkers about personal stuff and ignore you.

Those commercials for Midol and stuff that make women seem CRAZY during their time of the month, or craving bad foods. Way to perpetuate crappy stereotypes. There's nothing I hate more than a guy asking me if its "that time of the month" when I say something they interpret as snippy.

This is my BIGGEST pet peeve of all time! I don't care where you're going on Saturday, who you're going there with, or what you are going to do when you get there. Sometimes I REALLY don't want to know what you're going to do when you get there! I don't care who's cute and who's not cute. I don't care who likes you, what you think of them, or who you like!

Drives me totally insane. And the worst part is that it's not always the high school kids doing this! I thought I coud get around it by going to the grocery store before the kids get out of school, but some of the older cashiers are just as bad! I don't know how many times I've gone through the checkout and not had the cashier say ANYTHING to me aside from the amount of my bill, and the change I get. And it's usually said as though it's an inturruption of their conversation.

Yep, that one drives me nuts!

Oh these are my favorite threads!! Hee Hee!

Since I answer phones as part of my job, that's where most of my pet peeves lie.

1. People who call back from caller ID. "Someone called me from here - who called me?!?!?" Um, have you never dialed a WRONG NUMBER??

2. Speaker phones.

3. People who can't stop their conversation for the 10 seconds it takes to dial and have someone answer the phone. This goes double for those on speaker phone who then can't hear that I've answered the phone.

4. People who actually think that I *might* know how long someone in the office may be on the phone. Did YOU tell YOUR receptionist how long this call might take? I didn't think so!

5. People who slam the phone down when the realize that they misdialed after I answer. Just say you dialed a wrong number. It's no big deal!

OK, I'll stop there.

pushy sales clerks

that crazy frog ringtone

danoz direct commercials

dirty or unkempt people, dirty fingernails etc

people who think cats are just property

swearing and bad manners, especially in public

that show crank yankers

and my #1 pet peeve *drum roll please*

telemarketers

i have them call me all the time and 99% they can't even speak English, when i tell them i'm not interested they act very rudely or hang up on me, last time there was a very rude one and he actually called back, my husband was home by then and answered the phone, needless to say he didn't bother me again

The 411 operator who gives out my office number to anybody looking for some one in a court anywhere in the state, or even the town clerks office.
Extremely bad breath. I had one guy who I almost
when I was talking to him.
Those stupid beards that are just a line across the chin. Bad English. People who think cats aren't friendly.

Oh I have PLENTY!

I answer phones too, as part of my job - arg!:

People who call me at work and ask this question "Yeah, I need to know if my car is done." And they will stop their sentence. They wont tell me who they are, or what car is theirs! Then when I ask who this is, they get all grumpy when I don't know - like I should know their voice! HELLO! I answer about 500calls a day, I can't keep everyone's voices in my memory!

People who chew gum or any other food while on the food, yeah, thats in my ear, I hate that!

Which brings me to my next and BIGGEST one - loud chewers/people eating chips or anything else really crunchy (I even hate that word!) I can be in the best mood, and someone can eat a bag of chips or something next to me and I'll immediately get mad - I hate it!

Bad/lousy drivers - people who don't use their blinkers.

People who call you on your cell phone/home phone and don't leave messages, but rather keep calling a million times until you do pick up. LEAVE A MESSAGE, thats what voicemail is for!

People who change who they are when they are with a person. (I have a friend who does this) If she is dating a basketball player, she will wear basketball gear constantly (jersey's, hats, shoes, ect). If she's dating a guy that likes Harley Davidson, she'll wear Harley gear constantly. Seriously, be who you are!!

Ok, I'll stop, maybe I'll add a few more later

I work in an office too and those fit the bill!

Although I don't mind speaker phones too much, but numbers 1 and 3 are huge on my list!

Number 1... I work in an office where there multiple phones and up to about 20 people who could call out in our office... excuse me, but I don't have time to run around to everyone... "did you call John Smith". One disadvantage to caller ID

When I worked retail people would be so rude to me.
They would actually be MAD when I asked to see ID when they paid with a credit card.. its for their own protection! I have no idea who they are!

You know those shirts that say "Boys are stupid, throw rocks at them?"
My store sold them. You would not believe how many angry mothers came in saying that the shirts promoted violence and defending the intelligence of their sons. Some actually demanded to speak with the creator of the shirts.. who is a multi-millionaire that lives in Hawaii. Good luck with that.

Yeah, caller ID is the worst. I get, at least six times a day,
Them: "Yeah, someone from there just called me?"
Me: "Ok?"
Them: "And I'm calling back."
Me: "Did they leave a message?"
Them: "I don't know, I didn't check, I just saw on the caller ID that someone called."
Me: "Ok, well, it might take me a little while to track down who called you since there are 15 people working here right now, all of whom are in different areas of the building, so I'll just put you on hold and go ask everyone...."
10 minutes later.....
Me: "I figured out it was Dr. So and So and he's in with a patient, can I take a message for him to call you back?"
Then I do that and find out later that it was just a doctor calling to check up on a patient or a receptionist calling to confirm an appointment for the next day and that person LEFT A MESSAGE ON THEIR VOICEMAIL! GAAAA!
CHECK your voicemail people BEFORE calling the person on your caller ID! I cannot stress how much time I waste tracking people down that "just called" someone!

Hmmm....

Rude drivers

People who chew with their mouth open or noisily

Anyone who interrupts a conversation to answer their phone (I work under the principle that if I'm there and in person, I deserve attention NOW... please ask them to hold
unless I walk in in the middle of a conversation)

Did I mention rude drivers??

Oh! I think I've got the worst one for answering the phone...

One of our engineer's girlfriend called like 50 times a day. OK, not really 50, probably 5 (those were when he didn't answer his cell phone, I think). Anyway...I answered the phone and she BLEW HER NOSE in my ear.
I really almost hung up on her. I probably should have. That was just gross!

The other people I just love
are the ones who call and have no idea who they are calling. I work at an engineering firm, and we can be actively working on 40+ projects at any given time. This guy calls and says, "I need to talk to the engineer working on that one project. I met with him last week." Seriously. He didn't even know the name of the job, let alone the man he needed to talk to! ARG!!!

They really need to specify "psychic" as a prerequisit for anyone who answers the phone.
