Mommy losing her mind

Hi everybody,

Our sweety became a new mommy on the 28th last month. Despite a few rough moments, all has been mostly well. About 48 hours ago, mommy seemed to begin losing her mind. She is now vocalizing non-stop at varying levels from little grunts to full-throat howls, roaming the house like she's looking for something, and dragging her four furballs out of their "nest" and around the house one at a time about once every three minutes or so. Mommy's respiration is a little elevated, but not overly abnormal. No one seems to be ill, none of the youngsters seem to be in distress; there appears to be no environmental cause.

We are just out of ideas. Could this be heat? Could she be losing her little furry mind? Could it be something we're doing?

Just want to see her calm again, and not have to worry about stepping on a furball by accident...

Thanks in advance everybody.

Tricia, Michael, Bella and her fluffy foursome

A giant refrigerator box lined with the house's supply of towels, sheets, and kitten toys. Overall it's about 4' by 6'.

I would think heat cycle possibly too. I would suggest confining her in a large dog crate or a bathroom.

Yes...she can definately be in heat again. I would certainly confine her and her kittens and make sure she is not around any intact males as she can become pregnant again.

Now would also be a good time to arrange her spay appointment for when the kittens are around 8 weeks of age.

I think I read they can go in to heat 2 or 3 weeks after birth so yes please confine her and spay her when ya can.
