So I've been curious for a while.. how many anime fans are wandering around TCS? I'm a fan, and I've noticed that a couple people had anime siggies before. Just wondering.

My 17 y/o son loves anime and menga. We went to ACEN last year in Chicago. Anime Central (ACEN) is a yearly gathering of anime fans...it was really a LOT more fun than I expected. Lots of people were dressed in costume. This year ds is going with friends, and plans to dress as Wrath.

Both of my kids are heavily into it, as well.

Wow, that's really cool.. I've never been to an anime convention. Glad you had fun! I hardly have any friends around where I am who like anime..

Just give it some time. My son was the first one here who really seemed to be into anime, but now there is an anime club at school. Last year they met to draw anime (he wasn't interested). This year they watch movies and generally have lots of fun together, and some of the kids and a teacher are going to the ACEN convention!

I think there are probably other people near you who like it, but just aren't talking about it much yet!

Been a fan since Star Blazers first ran on US television, late 70s I think?

Can't deal with subs anymore though, age and eyes and all.

Took my youngest neice and nephew to see the Cowboy Bebop movie when it hit the theatre.
Nephew was less than impressed, neice wants to go into animation and voice acting now.

I was into Sailor Moon in junior high, I have watched Cowboy Bebop and have no strong opinion either way, but what I DID love was Spirited Away. I'm not sure if that would be considered anime, but the style seemed quite similar
SO correct me if I'm wrong!

Spirited Away is indeed anime, all of Miyazaki's films are, and all of them are simply beautiful.

Anime is a Japanese cartoon and drawing style. I'm going to get me some manga soon. I want to learn to draw in the anime style even though I really don't watch anime or read manga. I just haven't found a series I like yet.

I used to love Zoids when it came on Cartoon Network (I think thats were I caught it). The Zoids I watched (and loved) I think is the 2nd in the "set" seeing as there are a few different types out there. I would love to actually own a Zoid, the flying one that Jemmy drives.

I've watched a few anime dvd's but really havent liked any of them except Spirited Away.

I used to watch anime loads with my friends in high school but now I'm so behind. I actually did a few projects for IB Art "anime" style and thought about chanigng my concentration to "anime" but my teacher wouldnt have it.

If you liked Spirited Away, you might also enjoy Castle in the Sky, Nausicaa, Princess Mononoke, and The Cat Returns.

One of my favorite movies, "The Last Unicorn" is anime, though that's about as far as my love of anime goes.

I just copied those into my notepad.

Spirited Away was a birthday/coming home gift from my ex boyfriend. He loved anime and couldnt understand why I didnt like any of the ones we watched together.

Those are just some of Miyazaki's films.
He's a brilliant animator.
I do believe that Disney has his whole collection as they are his vessel here in the US and do the English dubbing on them.

Just so I know what you are all talking about
Well, yeah, but Pokemon is kinda bottom of the barrel as far as Japanese animation.
