I adopted 2 tabby kittens last week, 11 weeks old, they are brother and sister. My female kitten is fairly vocal, but I noticed today that when she used the litter box she meowed alot prior to having a bowel movement. The stool was soft but not diarrhea. Is this normal? Thanks for any help

My cat does the same thing every so often, but her stool is never soft; comes out in about 2-inch pieces. Isn't soft bad??? She also does it (sometimes) when/after she pees.

I think it's just her way of letting me know so I'll clean the box.
I hope, anyway.

Sometimes with little ones, they meow because it's a whole new experience for them. If it continues past 4 months, I would talk to the vet.

You can read my posts about Fred. I was feeding Fred the same thing as my 1 1/2 year old cat Parker. I don't know if it was this or something else that caused him to have some bathroom problems (he would meow while using the litter box as well).

Is the kitten showing any other signs of different behavior? Like going to the box often or making the motions and nothing happens? If so, there may be more of a problem. I got some good suggestions on this board and from my vet, and Fred's doing well now.

Fred has become more talkative in general in the past week or so (he's almost 12 weeks old now).

Good Luck!

Kris

Thanks for all your help and assistance. This may sound obsessive but I am still worried about her stool. I forgot to mention that the smell is very strong and I looked for worms but found none. If it continues a vet visit may be in order.
Thanks again
