hello, I'm a new cat owner. My cat, Kira, has really nasty bowel movements that could be classified as toxic waste. She goes and we instantly have to open some windows and clean her box. When we first got her we had her on a generic clumping litter and found that the urine smell was also very strong. Since then I have switched to half clumping and half silica crystals and find that the urine is much better. I clean her box all the time and she has no problem using it. My cousin and friends that have had cats for years have remarked that this is very unusual. I'm wondering if maybe it is her food? She is eating Nutro right now. PLEASE HELP US! THIS IS DISGUSTING!

If it's really this bad, I would recommend that you consult Kira's Vet. She may have a food intolerance and this could be as simple as changing her to an alternate food. I've known the brand of food you mentioned to cause stinky poo.

yes, she's been wormed. She was abandoned so I have no idea what she was eating before. The vet wasn't all that familiar with Nutro (she's on the Max- adult formula) so he couldn't really tell me if the food was the culprit or not. He said that she doesn't seem to have any GI problems though. What brands of food do you guys use?

try moving here to the natural choice side of nutro... max is okay but having wheat it can be an allergen .... I also like cal natural as it is very basic..
