Dexter was taking his usual cat nap this afternoon when all of a sudden he growled, his breathing became rapid and he did big tail puff, stay back, I'm a big scary cat thing.

I would give almost anything to know what he was dreaming.

Does your kitty dream?

Silly Dexter!

Sometimes Abby will start moving her paws while she is asleep. I think she is dreaming about chasing after a mouse

I'd love to know what Dexter was dreaming about too!

I think all of mine do, but Chester is the one I notice the most (could be because that boy LOVES to sleep!
) Mostly his face twitches, but he does move his paws on occasion and makes little grunting noises. It's too cute, I love watching him and wonder what he's dreaming about.

Both Oliver and my black lab, Cuddles, dream! Cuddles' dreams are more pronounced: paws running, face twitching, tail wagging, occasional woofs... its cute, especially when she wakes up with that look like "what's going on?! what happened?! I wasn't sleeping! I'm a good watch dog!" Oliver's paw just slightly move like he's running and his whiskers twitch... I'd love to have seen the tail poof and growl during sleep!

I have seen REM sleep in Dexter when his eyes are very busy yet he is sound asleep.
Wouldn't you love to know what our kitties are dreaming about.

Loving my beautiful baby girl
Oh yes, I'd love to know what Sierra and Serenity are dreaming! They both move their little paws, eyes, and sometimes their arms and twitch their ears and their tail when they're dreaming. When Serenity was a baby, she used to move her little mouth as if she was nursing while she slept.

Awwww sweet little Serenity.
That reminded me that Ariel did that a few weeks ago. I wanted to get a video of her doing it but she woke up as I was getting the camera ready.

I know Zissou eats in her sleep. She even licks her nose after.
One time she meowed really loud in her sleep and sat straight up, just like that stereotypical nightmare in a movie. Then she came over for a cuddle. It was like a little kid who had a nightmare. I'll never know what it was about. A giant squirrel chasing her?

Shadow is dreaming at the moment he's wagging his tail and he looks as if he were in a fight!

Both my cats dream often. Legs twitch eyes twitch, Pandora sometimes makes sucking sounds.

I've always wondered what cats dream about though. Or do they dream in color or black and white??

In a dream, the presence or absence of a thing is determined almost entirely by whether or not you notice it.

If cats generally notice colors, they will probably see colors in their dreams. Cats' brains are geared towards movement, though, so that is probably the main component of their dreams.

Try this the next time you realize you're dreaming: Look around, and notice the colors of everything around you. They will become brighter as you look at them!
