Do cats normally shed a "winter coat" like dogs do? Chloe is shedding an incredible amount. It's comes out constantly, much more that I've seen with my friends cats. I've tried using those wire-bristled brushes that are supposed to help and it picks up a lot of hair, but not all. I've also used my lint roller on her, which she loves and it picks up a lot of loose hair, but again, not all and 2 minutes later you can see the hair floating off her in the air. Normal?? Asking if it's normal seems to be my question of the day!

Oh my, yes they do. I don't own any pure black clothes; they're all mottled black and white. :p

With three white cats, my chairs are covered in white hair right now, however often I use the lint roller or brush the cats! It is normal, some shed more than others.

So how long will the winter coat shed??? I went and bought 3 new lint rollers last night - 1 for me, 1 for my roommate (I feel bad because she's always got white hair on her too!) , and one just for rolling down Chloe! I've also got to do some serious cleaning on all the furniture - any ideas on how to pick the hair up best from couches and chairs?

I am glad to hear this because both of my ragdolls are shedding all over the place...and usually I have no shedding with them. I was thinking something was wrong with them. Guess I dont have to call the vet now! Thanks

Both of mine are the very same way, you can brush them and five minutes later you can see it just laying on the top of the coat. If they are close by, I gently rub my hand over them and that gets some more of that off too.

Gracie, who has a thicker, longer and more plush coat than my boys, is literally dropping clumps of herself all over my apartment. They all eat the same food, though, and the boys aren't shedding nearly as much as she is. Although, everyone been shedding a bit more than usual.
