Loves shoes

Puppy is living up to his namesake.

Recently, he's been interested in my shoes. When I take them off at night, he runs over and sticks his head in them. Then he rubs all over them and chews on them. Finally, he sleeps cuddled up on them. Today I put my socks next to my shoes, and he licked my socks, then rolled over onto everything. This is apparently now part of the daily routine.

He doesn't seem so interested in my feet though. Just smelly shoes and socks, not smelly feet. Does anyone elses cat do this? I swear, he acts like my other cats on catnip. Except he hates catnip.

Zissou is also in love with shoes and socks. There are socks all over my apartment because she races around with them in her mouth. She also likes to sit on/roll around in/chew on shoes.

Tiger used to do that and Noodles has before. I think they are getting your scent off them and checking out where you've been. Tiger used to sleep with her face inside the shoe!

LOL! Yes, I've nicknamed my cat "Dog" because she carries my shoes around - mostly my slippers and socks, but last week she was dragging my tennis shoe by the string! If I can't find them I just go look in her stash under the guest bed.

Hi, my male cat (rescued about 5 years old, 20 lbs!) loves shoes -- his preference are for black and leather shoes! In Brooklyn where we were before, I got him his own shoes to play with, so he could scratch them to his heart's delight, a heavy pair of Fluvogs from a thrift shop. Now he has his own trainers which are rather shredded. He likes it if I hold one down while he claws it.

OH YES...we've been trying to discourage our kitties from playing with, licking, rolling all over, etc. my husband's shoes since the day we brought the cuties home (and I don't mean the shoes...phew!!). They LOVE his shoes...and at times mine. They like to take what they're playing with and drop it in the shoes, and try like mad to get it back. Lol!! They're too funny. It drive my husband mad, but I think it's adorable how innovative they are with the things around them! Heehee... )

I imagine shoes pick up all sorts of exciting 'ground level' smells while you're out and about. Concerning the feline with a predilection for leather shoes... I wonder if he can sense that there's something 'animal' about them. My cat has a thing for packaging tape (as well as shoes), and a little research uncovered the fact this kind of tape contains an animal tallow that cats can smell.

Ya know...that explains a lot about my babies' wanting to eat packing tape...I wonder if it contained that as well...hmm. It was a package from somewhere else, so I won't be able to check, but that's really interesting!

Madden loves shoes too!! You never know what you are going to find inside your shoes when you put them on in the mornings!! LOL
