Is hissing normal in a happy cat?

Sometimes Trout will hiss at her dad when he plays with her...I know she loves him because she'll be cuddling 10 minutes later...But do your cats ever hiss when their playing? Does it mean we should back off what we're doing?

Mine hiss when they are competeing with me, or each other over a favorite toy.

They have a much different sounding hiss when they really mean it, at least mine do.

Until you know her serious hiss from her My Toy! hiss, I would err on the side of caution.

I think I heard Skittles hiss 1 x at her dad he said no more play and that was it.

Zissou has only hissed once in her life that anyones heard, and it was at a dying stray cat covered in its own pee. She doesn't hiss at new people or new cats. If she ever hissed at me I would know I was way over the line about ten minutes ago with whatever I was doing. Try to notice when she does it and see what is being done wrong so you can prevent her from being so upset.

It's always the same situation when Trout hisses..Her dad will be sitting on the couch with his feet on the floor..She will start attacking his feet..and then after a while with him "attacking" her back with his feet..she will hiss.

It doesn't happen very often..but she just did it when I started this threa so I thought I'd see if it's normal at all.

haha, thats funny, my little sore loser. He always does back off when she hisses..
