I am so sorry about your situation

I don't know all of the details, but it doesn't sound right.

Hopefully something much better will come your way. I hope you are able to have an enjoyable weekend - and this doesn't weight too heavily on you.

Oh Amy - there are so many people out there that really need you and they do this? That really irritates me to no end, you do all that work and it gets thrown back in your face.

I am thinking of you and hoping for the best - and if worst comes to worst, I hope you find a place to work and help those people that suits you a whole lot better.

Oh my! I don't know what to say, but there is something waiting for you out there! Consider this position a stepping stone to something better!

Amy, I agree with the others that something greater must be in store for you - somewhere else, you are needed and my {{{prayers and vibes}}} are that you get to find out where very very soon. I am also praying that the clients you leave behind will find help, and even Divine Intervention, if need be. We are all so proud of you for assuming the risks and doing the right thing!!

Gosh, Amy....my heart is breaking for you right now. You shouldn't be punished for doing the right thing. I'm so sorry! I know bigger and better things lie in the future for you. It's just horrible that things have to end like this for you and that job. PM me anytimeif you need to talk.... I just really hate that you are going through this right now. You're too wonderful and caring to have to endure this.

In a way, you are going out on your own terms. You followed your heart and your moral compass. You did the job you were hired for, and you advocated for the victim. It seems that they want a puppet to toe the line. So much the worse for them. You stuck by your morals, so in that you should be proud!

Oh no, Amy! I can't believe it's going to end so badly for you!
I'm really sorry you're getting put in such a negative light trying to help people. You don't deserve it.

I am so sorry it hasnt worked out, but some things are not meant to be and it sounds as if you did the right thing in moral terms at least. Just a thought - some countries/places, you don't get the same benefits if you resign as you do if fired/made redundant. Make sure you are not cornered into doing something that will lose you unemployment pay/ social benefits. Good luck.

I agree with that Kelly- I am following my morals and I'd rather have uncompromised morals than all the money in the world.

I worry about my clients more than anything right now. I have some that I've really bonded with and that are going through so much right now. It kills me to have to tell them that I'll no longer be there helping them. There is another advocate there, but her style is so much different from mine...she fits in much better with the "Army way of thinking."

Jenny, you've made a great point about unemployment. I'm looking into what GA requires to collect unemployment, as well as my company's policies on severence pay.

I went to the tenebrae service at church last night and just cried my eyes out. It got me thinking- in a way I'm glad about this happening over Easter weekend. After all, what's Easter about? Resurrection. So I just keep telling myself that this is my chance for a resurrection and that something good is waiting around the corner. I just gotta keep believing that.

I am so sorry to hear that your weekend has begun so horribly, I can only hope for the happy ending that is surely waiting right around the corner to show itself soon! Don't get discouraged, what you do is amazing and what you will do will be just as amazing!

The cats house, we just pay the mortgage..
Amy I am so sorry this has happened to you I really am. You are obviously passionate about your work and it must be so hard that you have to break away from the people you've worked hard with and helped.
I can't believe how positive you are I really admire your attitude. I'm sure that something fantastic is waiting around the corner for you. I too believe everything happens for a reason.

IA. If you need me, just meow..
honey, if they are firing you for doing something you believe could have been saving someones life, then I say good ridance to bad rubbish!
I commend you for doing what you thought would help someone, not what they wanted you to tell that person. Think of how different that persons life might be now that you told them what you did versus what they wanted you to tell them.
If you tell your clients that you are getting another job in the same field can they call you if they are still having problems??
You are aces in my book!
poop on the rules and regulations! I am glad you went with your instincts! I wish you were around when I was going through it with my former husband, maybe I wouldn't have taken it for as long as I did.

Well, tomorrow's the big day. I'm either being fired or resigning (working on a letter of resignation right now, just in case). I'm hoping they fire me (that way I'll get severence pay and unemployment
).

The job market in Savannah isn't the best, but I'm definitely open to a career change, so that opens up my options a little. The town of Tybee Island (our beach, about 6 miles from our new apt.) has an opening for city clerk. The pay is GREAT and it'd get my foot in the door for some great public administration jobs. We know the city mayor and city attorney, so I'm hoping and PRAYING to get this job. If y'all have any spare prayers or vibes you can send my way for this job, I'd greatly GREATLY appreciate it.

I do hate that this'll leave my clients short one advocate. I'm going to wrap up things with my current clients tomorrow and make sure they know that our local domestic violence shelter has some awesome advocates that I fully trust to take care of their cases (Lord knows I don't trust the people at my military installation to help them appropriately!).

Mom asked me if she thinks I'll be able to get through work tomorrow without crying. I told her it'd be more difficult for me to get through tomorrow without doing cartwheels on the way out the door!

That is a sign that it is time to leave. You need a job where you can both know you are doing something good for others, and you can enjoy it yourself.

Hugs to you at this difficult time.
