Yesterday, I woke up and my upper jaw was throbbing. My teeth nor gums hurt so I wrote it off to sinuses. Well it got worse all day and was making my head hurt, still I wrote it off to sinuses. Well, I wake up this morning and it feels like I've been popped in the mouth and my cheek is really swollen in that area! None of me teeth hurt and neither do my gums, but I went ahead and made a dentist appointment for 2:00... So, yeah, I'm not having a very good Friday... Oh and to make matters worse I've never been to this dentist and don't know anything about him...
At this point, i might add that I have a mortal fear of needles and dentists!

I am sure they will be good to you. I haven't been to that one.( I have changed dentists a lot before finding Drs. Newlin and Winchester) Good vibes for you and good luck!!

Well, John had this EXACT same thing happen to him about 2 weeks ago

His cheek was swollen so bad that it looked like he had a baseball in his mouth! He went to the DR and they gave him meds to get rid of the swelling but it ended up being a tooth - even tho it didn't hurt at all!

I do believe they have to remove the tooth in a few weeks

Good luck!

Ooh, good luck
. Hopefully it's not TMJ b/c that requires surgery. I hope your dentist can get things solved real quickly!

This is just my opinion, but it sounds like you have some type of infection, especially since your cheek is swollen. If that IS the case, the dentist will probably prescribe some antibiotics for now, and then have you come back to have the tooth either worked on or removed at a later date.

Well I've just gotten back from my dentist appointment... BAD NEWS!! It's an absess! And my dentist is really worried about it because it's really close to the blood vessel that runs up your nose straight into your brain... He says I have to leave my face alone because he doesn't want to risk me pushing the infection into that blood vessel!

So, I'm on amoxicillin and Lortab until the infection is gone and then I have to go back for a root canal!!

Oh... and I had to come back to work!!

I'm so sorry to hear about that! (Especially about coming back to work!)

Sounds like you have the same thing that John has, same meds too!

I hope you feel better soon!
