Don't freak out if she is not staying with them. My cassie (RIP) was pregnant for 73 days and I was freaking out. I left for the store one day for only a half an hour and came home to find her in the closet and she was cleaning baby number one. Guess she was waiting for me to leave.

After she birthed four babies she kept leaving them too and I was freakin out so I put them in a basket and brought them into my bedroom and she didn't like that she tried to take them out and move them back to the closet. It looked like she was trying to kill them but she was just trying to pick them up.

I checked on them so much in the closet that she would meow at me to leave her alone. She will take a break from them. I do have a male cat and he is not the father and he would hiss at them but didn't want anything to do with them. Maybe you can put them in a closet where it is dark.

How about moving the mama and the kits into the bathroom, and letting the male roam the rest of the house? Probably after labour is over.

Congrats on the babies, by the way

Male needs to be neutered now....even after he is neutered, he will need to be kept seperate from your female until: 1. she is spayed or 2. it has been a month since his neuter. Neutered cats still carry active sperm for a period of time after they have been neutered, so best not to risk another pregnancy.

Below is a link to low cost spay/neuter clinics:

Well...you HAVE to keep them seperate....if for no other reason than she can become pregnant again as early as a week after giving birth. If you do not feel you have the room...you may want to consider rehoming your male.

Absolutely yes, feed her the highest quality kitten food in both canned and dry varieties that you can afford - she needs a lot of calories in order to provide 100% of the nutritional requirements of her litter.

Wow...your vet must be populiar.....ok.....then you should definately set up their spay/neuter appt. now so you have the date (and in 2 months the kittens should be ready to be placed). Although it will be challanging....your male and female cannot have any time together. We want to reward your mom cat by making this her only litter and treating her to a spay.
