I would love to get a Littermaid. Two cats keep me on my toes with the constant litter scooping. However, I'm not ready to give up my flushable litter. When you live waaaay far away from the dumpster in an apartment complex, toting litter is bad.

Do any of you use flushable litter with a littermaid? If so, how well does it work?

not sure but i would be interested in hearing what others have to say if it works or if there cats like it or even use it?(im sure my daughter would too since its her job to scoop the litter)

I use worlds best cat litter in my litter maid and its fine but actually I HATE the litter maid. sometimes excrement sticks to the rake because abi doesnt hide her feces all the time and then its worse than regular old scooping.

and i line my receptacles with plastic bags so i dont go through receptacles so quickly. When i move I am disinfecting the litter maid and giving it to a friend. the plain old boxes, filled deeply are my preference.

and did you ever see the little house covers made by NYC Dog and Cat?

they are adorable but pricey. I forked out money for the little house one. its well vented and Abi doesn't mind it at all.

so it prob wouldnt work well with mine since 2 of them dont cover it they scratch the wall beside it instead

did you try training you cat to use the toilet? sounds funny, but you will never have to scoop poop again

Actually, for only $26.95 a pop?! That's a LOT cheaper than some litter box benches or covers that I've seen. Those can be $70-100. What is yours made out of? Cardboard, plywood, etc? Very neat!

The cat using the toilet isn't a joke, but it can be a hard thing to teach them. There are steps they take to get them to use the toilet. And all of them are easy to understand how to do. But the part where you switch them from the kitty litter to the water in the bowl that you use to switch them over is hard. My cats just wanted to lick at it. Didn't like the idea of going potty in it. There is a site that gives you step by step how to train your cat. I was told by some one that WBCL gets gummy when the cat pee's in it. So it would stick to the tines. Is that true? Does it clump hard enough to be pushed to the bin, with out leaving behind all those little peices? Or does it break apart when it is being pushed?

i used WBCL with mine, & it worked ok, but i really didn't like emptying the bins with it, because the odor was so strong - odor control is better with tidy cats or arm & hammer. trust me - when all of those pee lumps are together, they can fell an ox with their smell! also, the new littermaid i got had a scoop included with little tines on the end that fit perfectly between the tines on the rake, making it much easier to clean. i check mine every day, because, regardless of which litter you use, stuff will get stuck between them.
