Chiclet is handsome, he's always looked gorgeous but his tail is disapearing! Is there such thing as cat hair loss? I dont means shedding. The tail doenst even look like it belongs to him. It used to be nice and fluffy

Th eonly thing I can think of is that we had to shave them all because Cheeto gave them ringworm. So we shaved everyone and gave thenm lyme dips and antifungal baths.........but chiclets tail never recovered!

Is there anything I can do?

I don't know if this is relevant. But my cat Gizmo had a similar problem on the back of his legs. For some reason he just started to go bald. He has now got a downy white fur over parts of his baldness but some just is still bald :S ... does Chiclet over lick his tail? or gnaw at it at all, Gizzy used to gnaw his tail and things, hes stopped now but no sign of that hair growing back I'm afraid. It could be completely unrelated however.

I dunno if he grooms his tail alot, but he gromes ALOT he's always damp, and I always see him licking and licking and licking. NO hairloss, only the tail, its lookin pretty bad.

My Cousings 13 year old cat goes bald every spring and summer from the back of her legs. She's had it for yeart and the vet just told her to feed her less wet food and more dry. It helps, but she still gets it, I dunno if that's related to your situation or not tho.

My cat eats a lot of dry food there's always some out because hes so fussy about when he eats (usually when i want to be asleep!!) just wondering there's no sores or pimples on the skin or anything. Id recommend watching how you cat interacts with his tail in case he does seem to over clean it or interact with it in a weird way. If you've used any wormer of flea meds it could be a reaction to the wormer or flea medication. Or possibly a fungal infection is the skin in good condition?

It was the shaving that did it.
It is called "post clipping alopecia" and is very common. The hair will grow back in time but it may do so rather unevenly. To encourage regrowth brush the area more frequently- the brushing will stimulate blood flow to the area and speed up the growth process.
