I'm battling a cold right now, and I've developed a cough which is quite annoying to say the least.

Anyways, my question - is there anything out there besides liquid medicine that takes care of coughs? I CANNOT take liquid meds, no way, no how.

My chest is just throbbing from the coughing and it hurts so bad.

Any advice would be great.

I think they make some gel caps that are supposed to be for coughing too. Like nyquil or dayquil ligui-gels.

Sucking on peppermint sticks helps the throat. So if your throat is scratchy or hurts, try sucking on peppermints.

Get some Fruit Breezers. They are like hard candy and work great.

That, lots of fluids, vitamin C and any other medicine you can stand to take.

I took some nyquil last night - John got me the drowsy stuff, and it works GOOD!

Do those Fruit Breezers really work good? I wasn't sure if they were more like candy, or actually helped?

I HATE cough drops and liquid meds just like you haha. Those Fruit Breezers are a miracle. I love them so much! The citrus ones and the berry ones are the best. Also I agree with the dayquil/nightquil pills! Get right on that!!

I would say lots and lots of fluids. Rub Vicks on your throat and chest before going to bed, take some nyquil (have no idea how you spell it). Use a couple of pillows to prop yourself up a bit (might not be too comfortable but it works) and try sleeping on your side. All of that helps a cough out for sleeping.

Smarty pants!

Sometimes you never know if those actually are 'medicine' or just candy to suck on!

I had my doubts also, but I really love these things, especially the Strawberry Cream (or something like that) flavor.

I like to drink hot liquids especially tea when I'm coughing. It seems to break it up a little so you're actually accomplishing something when you cough

They were like candy AND they helped. They're quite yummy. I once bought a bag of them for a cough and ended up eating the whole bag in a week or so. Darn sweet tooth!

I agree with gel tabs. Daquil, Tylenol, Advil- they all make cough medicine in pill form. Maybe some herbal tea with honey and lemon would help? Or eating some bread, or something scratchy?

I recommend TheraFlu thin strips. They disolve in your throat/mouth pretty quickly and work mircles.

Atleast they do for me when I've really bad sore throats in the morning. I tend to wake up with an itchy throat that'll sometimes worsen.

I also carry around those Cloraseptic lozenges during the winter because cold weather makes it worse.

My favorites are called Fisherman's Friend.
I haven't seen them around here lately though, so they might not make them anymore. The peppermint kind taste like candy but are really good at the same time.
