Just when everything is going beautifully, you are so happy and life couldn't be better, the man you love who just asked you to marry him does something THOUGHTLESS and INSENSITIVE and makes you feel bad???

I have had an awful lot of stress in my life lately, connected with resigning, having to find a new house and a new job, and a few other things.

Well, I got a new job, and the same day Max proposed. Everything was wonderful!!

But then we found out we didn't get the house we applied for, the package offered for my new job wasn't really what I was hoping for, and a few things started to go wrong. Aside from the good stress, a lot of bad stress has been piling up as well.

Yesterday was a horrible day.

Max had to go out for a bit to a friend's place, and I specifically asked him not to be too long as I felt like having a talk and a cuddle and didn't really want to be alone. He promised he wouldn't be.

He was gone two hours.
I was asleep on the lounge when he got back, and I just went to bed without talking to him. This morning he apologised but it started this stupid email fight that just escalated until I was so angry I just couldn't concentrate. It has made me miserable all day
Things will be fine, of course, but I just hate that he was so thoughtless when I needed him to be there for me! I did overreact, and I think it was a knee-jerk reaction to the stress I've had lately, but it has wrecked my day and I feel wretched.

Bloody men!!

The cats house, we just pay the mortgage..
Sarah I hear ya!!
This happens quite a lot to me... I never ask Mark not to be long but he'll tell me he's not going to be long and then come back hours later while I've just been sat there thinking he's coming in the door any minute and it gets so frustrating, esp if you have things on your mind and need the most important person in your life there with you.
They are men and just don't think sometimes. They don't have the needs and the feelings we do, so to them (IMO) if they are going out and we say we need them, we are just being over sensitive and it's not that important.
I'm so sorry you've fallen out so soon after such a wonderful event. You will get it sorted and he'll realise he's upset you and I'm sure he'll make it up to you. (he better!)
They do make me laugh though because if I'm not home when Mark comes in I'll get a text or a phonecall, 'where are you?' not in an untrusting way but it's like we are expected to be there all the time and exist around them. Hugs to ya

Thanks Lauren.

You should have seen me this morning -

But I'll get over it. He's not normally insensitive at all - he had perfectly valid reasons (to him!!) and probably thinks I'm being a bit of a drama queen!

That is exactly what they think!! Which is why it can be so frustrating because you actually start to believe you are being unreasonable, when everyone else around you tells you that you have every right to be upset/annoyed. I just like people to stick to their word. I don't mind Mark going out til all hours with his friends but it's like he has an allergy to saying 'I'm going to be out til the club shuts', he has to say, 'no I won't be too late, we're just having a few drinks and I'm tired'. Ggggrrrr just tell me the truth!

That was my point!! If you're going to stay out, then fine - no big deal I'll have a bath and read my book. I do, actually, have a life
But when you look in my eyes and promise me that you won't be long, because you know I need you, and then stay out, I'm gonna be mad!!
