I don't know how much he's gained, but since coming to live with me Sam has put on weight. He's a chunk o lard.

While I like fat animals, I know this isn't a good thing.

Is it okay to start switching him over to a light food or do I need to consult a vet first?

You could try feeding all-wet and see if that helps. Light foods sometimes just have more fillers...
You could talk to your vet, and make sure nothing's wrong. It's good that you're trying to stop it now instead of waiting til he's obese and then trying to fix it!

All wet might be a good idea.
I bet they would both love me for it.
It turns out that Henri's got to go to the vet anyway, so I'll bring Sam too.

thanks for the response
I was afraid no one saw this.

Consult the vet ... but I do agree increase wet and decrease dry... many light food s just reduce fat and increase carbs ...
