Last night I finally got a chance to play with Luna without Whitey interfering (and for those that remember me saying a couple of weeks ago that we were going to give up Whitey - don't ask...it's been an up & down issue).

Anyhoo, she gets to chase one of HIS toys.
She pounces on it and then does something I never say any of our cats do before: she hovers over they toy and then squats her butt on it.

I assumed that she was scenting it? She's spayed...but I do understand that fixed cats will sometimes do this.

Is this a good or bad thing or nothing to worry about? She was fine and happy go lucky after that.

I know she's been wanting to play for weeks now. Whitey kind of took over all of the toys, so I think that her getting one toy just made her ecstatic!

Mollie will do a similar thing. She won't only sit on a toy but she will kick it up with her back legs!

Same here. Over the years I've had several different cats that have all shown this behavior. First they sit on the toy, and then they start kicking at it with their back legs and playing with it. I don't think it has anything to do with scent marking the toy because Snowball does this all the time and he's been our only cat for the last 4 1/2 years.

That's hilarious! I don't think I could stop laughing if Luna ever did that!

I agree!

Molly and Tibby can do this really well, but Willow is slowly learning from them and is getting away from just sitting on his toys!

It is generally, from what I have noticed, the preparations for disembowling their prey! Once they feel that the prey is slow enough, they'll go to sit on/stand on it ready to rabbit kick!

Does look funny though!
