Iam happy to report Jackson is during awesome, he is totally himself, It doesn't seem to have taken a toll on him at all! And about the panting, The vet said it is ok, but when he does start to pant, he needs to cool off (Which I would do anyways) So when he starts to pant we stop playing!
thanks,

Glad to know he's good!

Whitey pants for maybe 15 seconds. I give him a brief break and then we go back to playing. He's also go a lot more fur than the other cats.

I think its like dogs, they don't have any sweat glands like humans do, so cats and dogs have to pant in order to cool themselves off.

Noodles does pant after a good play session with the cat dancer. She gets so intrigued with that thing I have to take it away or she'll just keep going.

Thanks, I totally agree with the whole "sweating thing" But your right Jackson and I take a break at playing, and once he's cooled down it's back on! Thanks for showing your concern!

yes my cat did it the same as yours. We played a similar game but with the light reflecting from a watch. he chased it for about 15mins them flopped down panting. I was a bit worried the 1st time too!

I noticed my cat, Unick, panting the first time during last summer. He goes with us over the moutains to eastern Wa. state. He travels well with just a harness and leash, and we were at the lake on a hot day. When he started hanging his mouth open I was worried at first. I knew that cats can't sweat and he was hot, so I just took him into the shallow water and sat him down. He was not at all opposed to the idea and he stood there in the water with me holding him for about twenty minutes. After that he was fine. He hates baths at home though. Last week he slipped his harness outside and was at large for 4 hours until after dark. My husband wasn't able to call him in. When I got home and got him in my spotlight, his mouth was hanging open and his toungue was out. Quite freaky looking, and he did it more after I got him in the house. I think he was very stressed this time, but he calmed down quickly. I think it is normal, but some cats do it more than others.
