Passover begins tomorrow night at sundown. So I have been making ritual
foods : charosets, horseradish, huevos haminados and polishing silver candle holders and digging out all the passover paraphernalia. It willbe a small crowd incuding two strangers who emailed me and said they were in town and needed a seder to attend.

Hope everyone has a good week and for you Christians: The last supper was a Passover Seder. But they are more raucous and fun than you can ever imagine. We retell the story of the Exodus, with narrative, songs and chants - drink four cups of wine and have a great meal: the central theme is the creation of a nation. Happy Happy !!

My mother decided that she could move Passover to Friday.
We also moved christmas this year- I spent the actual day at the casino w/ the chinese people. My mom is a convert who married a jewish man, so I was raised jewish, but have ended up celebrating christmas. Easter is actually the only holiday I never really celebrated. Hubby likes to dye easter eggs though.
Anyway, passover is my fav jewish holiday. The food is the best! My mom makes her own horseradish and it is my job to bring some boiled beets in order to dye it red. The table always ends up speckled pink by the end of the dinner between that and the red wine!
we are gonna have strawberries for desert.. This is hubby's first seder. Than sunday we are going out to eat with his Mom- she wants to have chinese food...

I think a sefer can be held any night. it's just custom that it's the first night. Friday sounds great too me. I think the only "rules"
are that the story gets told, that you follow the order of the telling and you dont eat those grains "hametz" or leavening for the week.
This morning I move all the flour and grains out of the kitichen. Luckily we follow sephardic tradition so we get to eat rice and legumes.

have a great passsover and a great easter everyone.
