I brought home my new 3 month old Oscicat kitten last night; its been 24 hours and she hasn't gone to the bathroom (no movement or pee). She's eating and drinking, and seems to be OK otherwise. She's playing like crazy. She knows where her litter box is and tries to use it, but starts to cry like it hurts. Has anyone experienced this with their kitten?

VET!!!!!!!! EMERGENCY!!!!!!
The really concerning part is that she tries to go but acts like it hurts. This can become a serious problem in a matter of hours. Find the nearest emergency vet, and go there.

Just after posting my question about Sadie's lack of litter use, low and behold, she used her box!!!! Her breeder told me to be patient, that Sadie just needed to adjust to her new home, and I guess she was right. Boy, was Sadie a happy girl after that.
(happy dance)

But, she's going to visit her vet this morning to get, hopefully, a clean bill of health; and, of course, a ton of treats.

EDIT - SADIE DID GET THAT CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH THIS MORNING. IN FACT, SHE'S IN GREAT FORM, THE VET SAID. UNFORTUNATELY, IT'S ME THAT'S JUST A WORRY WART.

Sadie is doing fantasic! She has no further issues with doing her "business". The only problem she has is that I'm a major worry wart over her. (Ah, the joys of being a new mom!).

At the kitty's beck and call
Awww I know what it's like - such a worry aren't they. When we bought Lily home she didn't pee for a full 24 hours, although, just like Sadie she was eating, drinking and playing like mad. After that 24 hours, she went in her litter box and peed like it was no issue
Kitties eh!

I'm glad to hear that Sadie is doing well. She's sooooo cute. I know its common for cats to not pee for a little bit when they're stressed or new, but the worrying thing was that she acted like she had to pee, but then that it hurt and she couldn't when she was in the box. Cats are prone to getting UTIs that can create blockages, thus the Emergency Vet, as this can be life-threatening. Just for future reference, in case it happens again!
