Hello everyone, my name is Jessica. I am new here. I am getting my first kitten on my own in May. My friends cat had them March 26 and she sends me lots of updated pics. I have had cats growing up, but this one will be my first baby. She is a calico and I named her Zivah (sivah) which is Israeli and means radiant. I am very excited about getting her, but I don't know what all I need to have ready for when I bring her home. I have been looking at litter boxes and they all seem like they would be too tall for her to get in easily. Any suggestions? Also, would it better to get her a cat condo or a scratching post starting out? Unfortunately I have to have in my parents house over the summer since I decided to go home between semester at school. She is going to have to learn two new homes, which I feel bad about, but I wanted to be with her as soon as I could rather than waiting until August to bring her to school with me. I would put up pictures of her but I don't know how. If you can explain it to me that would be wonderful!!! Anyways have a good day!!
~Jess~

p.s. i def posted this in the cat lounge because I didn't see this so here it is again

Hi! When I had little ones I used a shallow box lid for the kittens litter box. I lined it with a trash bag, then filled in with the litter
perfect height for those baby legs
If the box lid thing does'nt work for you, maybe you can try a litter box made for smaller animals like rabbits or ferrits (sp) they usually have one low side, so your kitten would be able to step in it. As far as kitty furniture, I'm sure she'll appreciate a hiding place, so I'd go for a condo with a couple out of the way places. She might be pretty frightened when you bring her home. She'll be without her siblings and mommy, so she'll need a "safe" place to hide
congrads on your baby
I looked at her pics-- looks like you'll have a lot of torti-tude to deal with
what a doll

Welcome to the site Jessica!
I just wanted to commend you on researching these things before bringing your new kitty home. Zivah is very lucky to have someone like you to care for her
