I was wondering if when you have a household pet in showing how do you tell the difference between the tabby mackrel and the regular tabby because I have a brown tabby with white that I would like to show when she is older.
For his stripes he has vertical stripes on her sides. Oh yes this is Chance and we found out the he might be a she not sure yet though.

The mackerel tabby is the typical 'tiger stripe'
The classic has the marbled or rounded 'bullseye' like pattern.

Mackeral tabbies have vertical striping (like the fish). Classic tabbies have more of a bullseye circle on the sides and they have "butterfly" markings on the shoulders (mackerals have the horizonal stripes down the spine).

And spotted tabbies, of course have spots. Some say they are closer to broken mackeral stripes, but I'm not sure how they became the rounded spots.

The 4th kind is the "abysinnian" or "ticked" tabby.
