So I briefly took care of my mom's cat ages ago, which seemed more difficult than nuclear physics at the time, but I've now adopted two beautiful kittens of my own! Right away I've noticed some differences and I was wondering if they were normal. Oh, and they're both at 4 months.

1) My kittens POOP sooo much! There's like, TONS of poop. I was under the impression that poop sessions happened once a day. They did with my mom's elder cat. Now it seems like my cats are pooping three times a day each. Vet did a fecal exam and they checked out O.K., but I forgot to ask him if their pooping habits become less frequent as they get older. Wishful thinking?

2) Oh, this one's good. They barely shed! Wooo! There's hardly any fur anywhere. In fact, they both sleep on my bed cradled next to me, but I hardly ever have to wash my sheets. I remember my mom's cat would jump onto my lap, and by the time she left it was like she had sewn a quilt on my lap. My kittens are black, though, so it's harder to see the fur, but I'm almost positive that they're hardly shedding. Am I lucky, or are they going to shed more as seasons change and they get older?

Thanks for any help I can get on these noob questions!

Every cat's unique and special in their own way. I don't see anything to be concerned about with their bowel movements.
Are you in a cold climate? As far as shedding goes, they tend to shed more in hot weather and less during cold seasons.

If there is a lot of poop it can be the food. What do ya feed.

At 4 months old your kitties still have their kitty coat. The should start filling in with their adult coat over the next few months. A good quality food will minimize the shedding, and now is the time to get them used to being brushed.

My cats poop a lot too compared to the cats of some of my family members. Drives me nuts!

I also noticed that my cats didn't shed when they were younger. Mine are now 10 months and a year old and they are shedding more now. I also think they are losing their "winter coats" though.
